Im looking at doing a cheap gaming rig and using one of these cheapy but apparantly very overclockable boards "Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2L G41" I read that the Ati 4870 is a good card for budget gaming and about £100 is my max for a card...What is your thoughts and what quiet psu will it need.

The 4870 is a very good budget card, i had one for a few years and still manages to handle everything i through at it (with the exceptions of losing AA here and there) However overall it's a good card, i'd recommend one but if you can afford the extra, get abit more bang for buck and get that 4890.

my LG LX40 is only something like 1280 x 1024 but I also have a LG 47LX9900 TV on order and would like to link it through that as well via DVI or HDMI if poss

Are these cards noisy as? Because i just noticed the 5770 for £150 is the Vapor-X edition and is built to be quiet.

I wouldn't pay £150 for a 5770 and i would rather get a 460 or a 5830 for that amount of money as they are a good bit better

so if i want to view through my big ass all singing all dancing 47inch 3D LED TV then 4870 isnt good enough? and i need a 460? and the higher number 5770 sucks "Ass" is that correct?

You'd be better off with the 460 if your new TV has resolution of 1920x1080/1920x1200 than the 5770 and 4870. Plus it's DX11 capable, has Physx (a bit pointless but it's still a feature), 3D capability and it's new to also match with the new TV. Ta-da!.

I'd spend the extra on the 460 GTX personally so you can enjoy your gaming more. I think it's worth it.

A HD5750 can be had for about £80 and you can get a 4890 for a little over a ton. Both are very solid performers for the money.

No both would do a sterling job, its just for more money you can have better relative performance.
