Star Craft 2 melting gpu's....

There was some sort of problem with the menu screen in the beta -- a friend of mine playing on an old single core system would get like 0.000000001fps on the menu screen and would be fine in game... 0_o (so basically, he could never actually get to a game)

But I don't see how this could cause problems on systems... I played the beta a little and I use monitor temps with RivaTuner/Afterburner, and I didn't notice temps being much higher than normal on the menu screen for the beta. Who knows really :/
 
It's a hardware design flaw if rendering graphics "too fast" is causing cards to die, capping the frame-rate lower is just skirting around the problem.

What type of cards have been dying?
 
Ridiculous, this just shows that people don't test their rig for stability with CPU and GPU tests. Chances are their cards were probably covered in dust and insufficiently cooled anyway.
 
So if I run Furmark or Heaven at 640x480 and it goes over 200fps will my card melt too? :P

VERY weird issue, still....

It shouldn't do but like I said if it does then the card must have had an underlying fault either in design, manufacturing or construction, a graphics card dying while doing graphics is like a processor dying running Prime95. :p

And great to hear about ATI fixing AA support. Was afraid this was going to be one of those ones we wait 12 months for and then don't get ¬_¬
