ATI 5830 - Poor Quality? [Solved - OP Updated]
Hrm. This is a difficult one to explain... As per the advice of several people, I was looking to upgrade from my 8800 on a slightly tight budget. I went for the 5830 which arrived today.
The literal performance is fantastic compared to my 8800. I don't play graphic-intensive games with the exception of Mount & Blade Warband (If you can call that 'graphic intensive'
) However, there is something so fundamentally wrong with the way that this card renders foliage, it's caused me to revert back to the 8800.
Here are some example screenshots. The top will be the 8800, lower is the 8530. Note how the foliage seems to 'clump up' on the 8530, there's no softness in it. I've also noticed that the Nvidia renders the trees far better, there's substantial thickness on the branches whereas the ATI seems to struggle.
The screenshots can be found in this thread:

Solved! I probed through the CCC, enabled everything and saw an immediate difference in-game. I was however suffering from a rather bad jerkiness. As such, I systematically shifted through CCC. The AA Mode was key, setting it to the highest proved to solve things and yet caused some bother. I then set it to the medium setting which has worked just as well and cleared the graphical problem. Many thanks!
