.Times are changing in the games industry, there is far more demand and far more gamers than years ago. I agree to an extent that I for one miss the kind of "exclusivity" of a PC game when it came out (Quake/Unreal/HL2/BF2 etc), and getting that bespoke feeling that the game was tailored to be run on PC's, for PC gamers.
I'm not surprised that companies are defaulting to launching a game on as many platforms as they can, expanding their customerbase and getting more profit. Do games cost more to make than they did say, 10 years ago? Probably. Piracy is probably also a contributing factor, but probably not to the extend that is hyped in the media.
Consoles are also becoming more like PC's now. Think back to the days of the Megadrive etc, there was a clear definition between consoles and PC's. Since then consoles have internet access/downloadable content/multiplayer/TV access/etc.
It doesn't bother me that BC3 is going to be a multi-platform game. I understand that in PC gamer's eyes that automatically means that there must be comprimises due to hardware limitations or catering for different gamer types, but I think for the most part its something we will have to get used to.

The long and short of it is console aren't as powerful as many gaming PC's nowerdays. This was confirmed for example by the console release of Dragon Age which featured lower amount of enemies on screen at a tome than the PC version because of hartdware limitations. It's no bad thing, they're good value for money, however, I wouldn't want to play a modern game on a rig with those specs. I'd be on the main site shopping for an upgrade.
The server end stuff i'd imagine.

MAG supports 256 players.
I have no Idea what MAG is but if a console game can support that, my fears will be lessened. That can't be locally hosted though surely?

From my point of view, i had a really successful BC2 clan, all going well, as time went on people started to realise BC2 was nothing more than a console port that the DEV's could care less about!
For me personally whats the point in owning a PC? paying for the upgrades etc? When every game that comes out is a console port... there is no identity for the pc gamer any more.... so you guys carry on with your
arsewholes!
I hoped BF3 would be a PC only gaming and prehaps DICE try to cash in on the success WoW has had in some respect i.e "oooo we;re losing sub's.... better fix it quick!
But nope it will be another console port which will come and go with in the first 6 months! Like i said PC imo is dead... Never again will be have a game like BF2...... the future of PC gaming is MMO's or Consoles!

Why should we get used to it though?
When we were asked if we wanted to use Euro, did we not say Nay?
We still have some devs' out there producing great games for the PC only. I don't believe the piracy tripe (I remember the days of dodgy market with pc games on offer, oh and beside that stand there was a stand with someone chipping playstations).
It's simple for these big Publishers. They choose the Console over PC because:
- PC gamers are used to free mods/maps
- PC gamers are used to plenty of patches and community driven changes
- PC gamers expect the game to for last years
- Large dedicated servers (remember Joint Operations? 128 players of laggy fun)
We used to get all this until they realised there was more money to be made elsewhere (I blame Halo xD). Now IP's are all the rage, and the games themselves don't have to be good to sell.
Any notice their latest tactic is to build up hype, but delay review copies to well respected Reviewers until after launch.
If a game is good, why have a NDA? It's right up there in the scam department.

Say goodbuy to flying Typhoons and F22 Raptors and the flight characteristics of bf2.
They were perfect specialy for landingsss and everything theyl probably make it cartoonish and not that realistic and terrible for the consoles.
ARGH it was the sandbox type play you could have in bf2.
There would be a fight somewhere on the map even if it wasnt at an objective the maps were huge and were always fun!
The way theyd prob make it for consoles is very objective styled not very big maps so the games could be quick and fast.
