Ok so I just moved from console gaming to playing on my new PC, it's great and I love it but it does feel lonely, I used to have full 100 friend lists on both accounts of my PS3 and now I know only 2 or 3 people on the PC. I figured OcUK would be a good place to go as most people are cool and also from the UK so less lag and on at the same times.

Anyway, I currently play CoD4 online and will be picking up The Orange Box soon, maybe L4D 1 or 2 as well.

So if you want to play any of these then send me a friend request.

Xfire

Steam

If there is anything else that is good for PC gaming other than those two then please tell me and I'll get it.

Thanks.

tf2 is a must and css both cheep games and a good way to experaince real fps. css will take you a fair while to get used to so expect to have poor scores for at least a few months. tf2 is more noob friendly tho

Yeah tf2 is quite friendly to new users as even if you suck theres always something you can do to help your team. Most of my friends on steam have come from tf2. Plus if you become a good medic people will often add you just because you healed them up good :) its what happend to me at least.

If you start playing TF2 i suggest the gtfo servers. www.gtfogaming.co.uk. Theres a good friendly community there and quite a active vent channel and a good mix and skilled and not so skilled players.

When your playing pc games its best to stick to a select bunch of servers you like that way the regs on the server get to know you and you get to know them.

Other then that i would say console gaming is much more social in the way people stay in touch and make friends. Bad company 2 is a good example i have it both on ps3 and pc, people on ps3 tend to use voice comms a lot more then on pc. But that maybe due to lack of in game typing options i dunno.

I will add you on steam my steam name is sad-panDA

Thanks for all that info, very helpful, I will look out for you friend request too :)

Check the list in Antar's sig and add a bunch of people.

TBh most people don't bother adding new people (too much hassle checking lists every so often) so it's best you add them.

What ever you do, DON'T JOIN A 32 MAN TF2 SERVER. Instead, try the Training mode and play a couple of games on your own with bots.

It will distort your view and gameplay of a good game. I suggest only sticking with Solider as it's easy to pick up yet has a stupidly high skill level.

- Soldier guide - mid skill needed
- part 2

http://www.teamfortress.com/ - Good reading if you have the time, start from the oldest post and work up.

http://www.thehh.co.uk/news.php - When you get good at TF2, move on to these servers as they are very good for increasing your skill. I'm on there everyday as scrlk @H|H AKA Vinni3.

Also try Quake Live as skills from this game will make you very good at every other FPS. CoD 4 is quite bad for adapting to PC FPS as the game is too easy - little/no recoil ect.

I've never been able to get into TF2. Had it for a while now and I don't think I've racked more than 3 hours on it.

I really want to enjoy it, but I can't.

3 hours is nowhere near enough time to give TF2, you really need to try each class for a couple of hours in order to get used to them. For example, I primarily play as Heavy (and am quite good at it as well providing there aren't any good snipers/spies on the other team) but can also be a passable medic or scout. However, I absolutely suck at any other class and playing them is a complete chore and I have no fun playing as them so I leave those classes to those who are better than me.

Football manager? Company of heroes? Total war series? Men at War? Arma2? Bf2? bf2142? tf2? Alien Swarm? Starcraft2? Mafia 2? Just Cause 2? Borderlands? Insurgency mod? Tropico 3? Live for speed? rfactor? DCS:Black Shark? Flight Simulator X? Worms reloaded? F1 2010?

More:

Serious Sam, Sons of a solar empire.

World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings online, Star trek online, Age of Conan? I dont like mmo's....

don't be put off css is more friendly compared to the older version which is much harder to learn

Its nice to hear some one been converted from console with so many jumping ship to that side :)

I also agree with what vinni said, playing quake 3 or quake live will improve your skill in other games. Its such a fast paced game, after playing that for any lengh of time it really improves your reactions, aiming, your movmeant even the way you think. You and your mouse will become one :) Quake live is also free and has some good training sections.

After coming off quake all other games seem a lot slower paced and easier.
