Narrow washing machines?

Hey guys

I just got back from hols (Lanzarote, weirdest landscape I've ever seen) and the washing machine broke. The landlord's on hols for four weeks and I've got no clean clothes! Howevs the gap is slightly too small for a standard-sized washing machine. We've currently got a kids washing machine (a ten year old Zanussi with a 3kg drum) that's quite a bit smaller than a standard one.

The gap we've got appears to be 59.5cm wide at the front, and tapers towards 58.5cm at the back. This is roughly 1cm too small for a normal washing machine.
Does anyone know of any washing machines that could fit the gap? I've scoured the net for things like "slimline washing machine" but the only thing I can come up with is a Zanussi ZWC1300W. This is 49.5cm wide yet has a 3kg drum...I'd much rather have a normal 6kg drum! To top it off these Zanussis seem a bit rare and so cost £350-400 too!

Any help?

This is your Landlord's problem, not yours surely?

Also, laundrette.

Yeah well I just don't want to have to wait a month plus to get a new one since he's on holiday! I think we're gonna have to hit the laundrette - good suggestion!

And either side of the gap are the walls of cupboards. Tbh I reckon the whole thing could be dismantled and 1-2cm could be cut from the width however I totally lack the tools for that sort of thing. If the landlord were here I reckon that could be an option though :)

Oh and cheers for the top-loading suggestion. I'll have a lookie.
