Nationwide to stop free overseas debit card transactions from Nov.

Thanks for this.

That was the only reason I opened an account with them. It'll be closed gone November.

Nationwide are next to useless now - and I really can't believe how bad (rates / catch wise) they have become after using them for the last 11-12 years. The way they structure their savings and rates is mind-boggling. I was only slightly surprised when I read this myself today.....

I closed 2 ISA's with them this year, as well as 3 savings accounts - as the rates on each had dropped to virtually nothing.

I also stopped paying into the CTF as their rate was well below market average.

I now only have a mortgage with them (Luckily, that has reverted to a very good rate)

Surely HSBC is free abroad transactions as it is supposedly the worlds local bank according to there ads?

This isn't fact as I cba to look it up but I would assume it's free from them?

Just signed up to them to put several thousand in there for travelling. I suppose 2% is better than most anyway. What a waste of time signing up...

The 2% is fine its the £1 a go ATM fee thats not!

I wasn't aware of the £1 per withdrawal? Is that part of the new system in november? Do all banks do this additional charge?

Is there anymore info on this new nationwide policy?
