Worth selling my GTX285 for GTX470

With that card, I'd be waiting to see what the ATI refresh, and the inevitable GTX 475/485 bring to the table.
 
Buy when you need to. When that game or game(s) start to make it struggle too much then that is the time to buy something new, it will let you know. ;)

I think you'd see a fair improvement going from what you have atm to a 470.

I would do it - even tho the GTX285 is still more than upto the job - but you'd get far more selling it now than you would in a few months time and the GTX470 will still hold some value.
 
I moved to a 470 from a 280 and I'm happy with the results although it's clear my CPU is a bottleneck. On my system I would say I get roughly a 25%-40% increase in fps on average. Doesn't sound a lot but makes Crysis WH feel much smoother to play. They also overclock very well, i'm on 800 core/1600 and can go beyond, not found it's limit yet.
 
your 285 is future proof enough tbh, at least until the ps4 and xbox 720 comes out lols
 
I'm in a similar boat - (GTX 280) - but now that nVidia have finally got Surround Gaming working I'm leaning towards getting a second card to SLi and adding some more screens - cheaper and more impressive all round!
