I'm looking for a dirty great old style leather book but preferably with blank covers. You know the sort i mean, wouldnt look out of place in the Hogwarts library or in Saruman's Tower of Orthanc or what have you. Anyone know of a retailer that sells something like this? Doesn't have to be old itself, just old style. Blank cover is a must really as I'm going to carve it up.

Any pointers appreciated, my Googlefu is weak.
 
Have you thought about searching on Ebay for "leather book" or similar? That throws up quite a few results although you'll need to search through carefully to find something with a completely blank cover - the main reason I'm suggesting there is that it may be a bit cheaper than buying from an antiquarian book seller although that is an option or look at people who do house clearances. I have no idea what it is like in UAE though.
 
Ah buying in the UK would be fine, can get the folks to post it out.

You reckon is just a case of looking in places like charity shops and boot sales in the hope of something popping up? Plus egay, like you say.
 
I don't know about charity shops although if your folks are happy to spend some time trawling through them then they might find a bargain. I was really thinking of the places that advertise in the Yellow Pages and the like who offer house clearance services after someone has died/gone into a home type of thing as they're quite likely to end up with a lot of old leather bound books - just get in contact with a few and specify a plain leather bound book of roughly XX dimensions and see what they have on offer.

You can find plain leather bound journals/diaries relatively easily it seems brand new but I'm not sure how you'd go about distressing them yourself.

Hah, no. I keep all that under the 4th floor board on the right in the 3rd bedroom.

I'm only carving the cover, i want to make my own Tome like the Necronomicon kinda thing, but carving my own title in requires a blank cover :)
