Right, I'm on the verge of purchasing a new PC:D, have had my eye on the Vanquish pre build for awhile. Considering making some changes to the order, but some helpful advise before I do so would be great.

1. swapping the 5870 1024MB for the Powercolor 5870 2048MB eyefinity - I will only be using the 1 Monitor (my old 19" CRT) until I can afford to replace it with a new display set-up hopefully next month. feel free to offer opinions on good monitors for photo editing/gaming so I can start to price them up.

2. changing the psu to a modular one but unsure if they are worth the extra money to do away with a few cables? Or any other benefits I've not noticed from them.

Are you going for a 6 display set up? If not, it's not worth it. A modular PSU will make cable tidying easier and will have a small positive impact on airflow.

THANKS Vinni3 for the fast response

no more than 3 displays, the price is the same for the two cards. Would I not see a improvement in future games having the increased memory on the card?

I've read some reviews on the 902 case and I got the impression it would be easy enough to keep the cables under control and out of the way - anyone got a 902 with a non modular psu to confirm or disagree with this?

if you want eyefinity in the future then it would make sense to buy a monitor with display port, many people who buy the active adapters are having issues with it. Nvidia do a similar "gimmick" but it requires sli (but no display port).

Modular psu's are good as you reduce clutter and improve airflow as mentioned by vinni. Please don't skimp on the psu, you will run into trouble if you do, especially if you ever intend to do xfire or SLI

Good luck with the build

I think I'll skip on the modular PSU as it'll be the highly eperienced chaps at OCUK building this Rig I'm sure they do a great job with keeping those pesky cables strapped down and out the way.

I reckon I'll stay with the standard 5870 buying the eyefinity just means I'll have an excuse to spend more money on Monitors that I could probably get by without. The standard card should be enough I hope (and appears to come with codes which = free games) cant say no to that:p
