Closest you came to a lot of money.....relatively.

Just wondering what the closest you came to a lot of money once, whether younger (omg nearly got $50 for this) or in different attitude (omg nearly got $1,000,000).

Just wondering as I am fuming.

I came across a great deal 2 months ago that required $12,000. My dad said sure he would lend me the money no problem, but he forgot to go and get it transferred.

The deal has now netted another person $60,000.


Not chuffed considering I am a student. >_>
 
Not myself but my mum nearly become very rich! :p

One time I was watching the Lotto (nothing was on! :rolleyes: ).

The numbers chosen were the dates of the birthdays in my family. Had my mum remembered to buy a Lotto ticket, she would have become very wealthy - when she plays she always puts our birthdays on as Lotto numbers! :p

Ouch, that certainly sucks, hence the reason I only ever get random :p
 
When my mum sold her car. I think it went for £2500. But when I worked at TK Maxx, I would see on a regular basis about £20,000+ at the end of every week.

This is why i use DirectDebit for the Lottery. :p
 
A few years back I used to have the same numbers on the lottery - combination of birthdays and house numbers - the usual stuff.

I ask my then partner to get the ticket as I was busy that day and she agreed...... checked the numbers later and found we had 5 + bonus....except she forgot to get the ticket :(

4 people got £120k each for 5+bonus, so had we got our ticket i'd have been 5 people winning £96k each.


Never used those numbers ever again.
 
i got an email from a Nigerian dude offering me $20,000,000 that was in my name in a bank account. I only had to give him $5000 to release it but I didn't have it at the time :(
 
My sister had 1.6million accidentally transferred to her account lol - taken back a few days later.

Company I used to work for "owes" me atleast 300K at the going rate for work done - but I did it at "mates rates" instead as the owner is a friend and was struggling to keep the company going at the time.
 
I made up a fine of £5 for people who think 'a lot' is a word.

I'm owed about a hundred billion pounds, but strangely nobody has paid yet.
 
£22,000 in cash in a big zip lock bag about 10 years ago, next to a cardboard box full of chipped btcellnet phones.
 
my dad was asked to go in as a partner in petroline when his mate started the company, he didn't want to risk investing his life savings due to having a young family...the company was sold for £104 million in 1999

his mate now runs his own race track in spain and is the creator of Askari :(

Not me but

Our family has lived in and owned a House in India for the last 80 to 100 years (estimate). It was sold around 20 years ago. The new owners a few years ago did some work on the house resulting in them excavating the floor under which they found a large amount of Gold. I don’t know how much but it was a lot. No one that is still alive knows how it got there.
 
Most amount of money i have seen was around £500k which was later found to be drug money that was being laundered...my cousin got arrested and is now serving around 6 yrs in prison for his involvement...he was running a money trasfer company but as it wasnt making much money from it he was using drug money and putting it through his company...silly boy soon got found out but hes made enough money from it to last him a lifetime...no idea if the authorities have taken all that money.

But the money was in a couple of black duffle bags and was pretty dirty ie ripped and soiled as you would imagine but yeh thats about the biggest amount of money i have seen...all £50 notes too.

This was about 2 yrs ago when i went to see him at his office as he needed a new network putting in.
