froyo for desire starts this weekend

Seems a little quicker than 2.1. I'm happy 
But for some reason apps seem to be starting in the background on their own accord now. I'll kill almost everything with app killer and then 5 minutes later, I'll look again and I have about 15 things running
I'm sad

I rooted weeks ago, I think.
I have checked for updates and have one avbailable, 1.21.405.2.
Should i install this, then keep looking for more updates to get to froyo ?.

Yeah, that might be 'update1' I got a few weeks back.
If like me, you updated your handset without the gold card, then fear not. I thought my phone was bricked but what I did was, put the gold card in, connect the phone to my comp and loaded the "RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.21.405.2_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_126984_signed" rom. So in affect i downgraded it.
THEN I did the OTA upgrade still with the gold card in and now it works fine

Question: No particular files need to stay on the card for it to remain a GoldCard do they?

i've installed the new radio on my current rom, i dont think i'll do an offical update as i want to keep my 0.75 hboot - incase 0.92 is a problem with custom roms.

If you've not got a branded rom, go to your settings, and check for an update and it should be waiting

Its a O2contract phone, I have rooted it.
There are no updates, so i guess its still branded, Can I de brand it easily ?.
Then i guess, updates will appear ?

Better to read over the guides elsewhere before debranding, but as far as I've read debranding shouldnt take you any longer than about half an hour or so.
Ok, I've got too many problems with this update (no security lock, not being able to turn off flash and the haptic feedback keyboard is always on 
)
How do I go back to 2.1? The phone is standard and unrooted.
