Well just finished watching Sasmeki Koto ... amusing little series about on the yuri theme ... although despite anime's reputation in some quarters it does manage to have several rather, erm predatory, characters and still have nothing really happen over the entire series ... and does suffer from the no real ending syndrome. It's was good for something light.

Also watched Strike Witches S2 ep4 ... not bad with a sbit of gratuitous bouncing and more zipping around shooting stuff .... :)

Anyone else watched Sketchbook Full Colors. Worked my way through the first two episodes, thought its really nice and relaxed. I smirked at the President A_ia cameo in the first episode, not surprisng considering its the same studio though.

As to SW ep 4, it wasn't the bouncing that caught my eye...it was all the rear end shots :p. Oh and ofc now there are twins, is there any anime stereotype they won't exploit :p.

Demoniser, by the sounds of it, no, not if it'll get a few more viewers ;)

I made a start on S4 of Maria last night, and it's looking good :)

So quick question, why is it so many animes (i'm talking a vast majorty here) suffer from "no real ending" syndrome?

Is the only reason is because they want the option of continuing the story? Or is it something in the Japanese culture that prefers it that way?

A huge majority of anime shows out there are adapted from it's original manga/novel material, some of which have been on-going for years, or one that is relatively new, so these can pose some problems.

For example the anime catches up too quickly to the manga content and there is nothing left to adapt, so that is why you sometimes get unrelated filler episodes until the manga author produces new volumes for newer stuff. Naruto being one such example, or so I heard, as I don't watch this..

There is also production, resources or budget concerns, i.e. not enough to adapt the rest. Which is why some shows end aruptly or change a few things along the way.

One big example would be Claymore. Episodes 1 to 20-ish were quite faithful to the original manga material, but the last few episodes completely changed the story as it was only a 24 episode run. The manga meanwhile is still on-going today.

With the likes of Harem/Romance genre shows, that there is due to the fact that they are mostly based upon Visual Novel games and you have many split-paths, sub-plots, girls/guys to choose from and so on. Some shows do tend to go with some canon endings (Clannad, Shuffle! etc).

I've tried to watch Sketchbook Full Colors several times ... normally about every 6 months by which time I've forgotten that my copy isn't compatible with my WDTV ... I then make it through the first 5 mins before giving up. One day I will actually watch it!

Edit: So it looks like Funi may have have rescued Girls Bravo ... now that is an amusing series ... ;)

Dub and sub? i wonder, or just sub (Either way hope its blu-ray)

It will be DVD and BR releases, (as will the UK release), and seeing as the UK release was delayed due to waiting for the US releases dub to be produced (orginal release date was this September, latest release date now is February next year) I would say being sub and dub is pretty likely.

If you want it sooner then the Taiwanese BR release supposedly has English subs and is out in September.

You still haven't ordered it?

*mutters* ;p

I should finish Maria off tonight, disc 3 was good, if a little bittersweet (it's nearly time for the older crew to move on).

But disk 4 is where things are at ;)

I know , I know,later today for sure
Problem will be that I will spot something else I want and my cc will take a bashing :D

Always an issue :)

I see that K-On! has had some information announced from Bandai on it's upcoming dub, which will be good for people who want that, and they have also announce that they have The Girl Who Leapt Through Space and the prequel to My Otome ...

So far this weekend I've watched Sketchbook Full Colours (finally!) ... nice gentle series but I did have the feeling that they could have done more with it than they did .... and finished re-watching Princess Lover ... which is best described as action with rich boobies ... silly, pretty brainless ... but fun :)

I also watched the first three episodes of something else ... but for the life of me at the moment I can't remember what it was

Spotted some text that i found strange this afternoon
Disc 1 of Azumanga Daioh near the beginning where Chihiro is introduced it has some Japanese kanji with the name Chihiro underneath
and below that a different kanji with the name Chihiro under that??
Weird what you spot after the xx time watching a show isn`t it?
