Both of my EVGA GTX280 SC have failed both with the same problem. :o

the problem is both cards show red/white lines across the screen vertically & horizontally. it even happens in the BIOS on one card (pic here).pic here So i decided to sort them out for RMA and post this thread to let you know how i get on.

First: EVGA procedure for RMA is to long winded...
Register your product - why do i need to? EVGA have S/N/PART thats surely enough? fair enough it only takes 5 minutes (per card)
Verify you are under warranty - well of course
Upload your invoice - fine.
Contact tech support for troubleshooting - fine none techs but i dont need to its clear enough they have failed.

Tech support ticket is required to submit an RMA - so i submitted 2 Support tickets (one for each card). now i have to wait 2 days for any response & they could turn around to say can you turn it on/off again x2 ?

Only after all of this can i even ask for a RMA number & that it could take up to 2 days just to get A Number. if i didn't have another computer. i would have to wait 2 days+ RMA to get a working PC?

I will post updates to this as i get it. :o

only good news i could get is they upgrade me from 280GTX Super Clocked to 460 Super clocked? :D

you will have to send it to germany after all that aswell

good luck with that.

Wont buy EVGA again after my RMA experience with them

Hmm I've actually had a pleasant RMA service with EVGA, actually it was hassl free. Of course i had to send it out germany but it was back with a few weeks and I had constant contact via email on the situation. Maybe the service has declined over the years as it was awhile ago that I did this.

I had to rma 4(!) 680i motherboards with them, it typically took 10-12 days turnaround to get a replacement.

i wont use them again. last year my x58 board set on fire. damaging my case as well. tooks weeks for them to test the board and yet then weeks for a replacement. promissed to arange comp for the damaged case but ddnt ever see it. then they jst stoped replying to my email.

my problem was also with 680i motherboards (i have not owned an EVGA graphics card i will add)

i got so fed up of it i stupidly decided to do there stepup program from 680i to 780i.

i sent my board to them with paper work and paid the stepup fee.

my 780i board took 5 months to arrive. My emails went unanswered after about 3 weeks.

a lot of people buy EVGA because of there so called good RMA service i did not see it.

Asus all the way for me now for mobos.

Sapphire even tho they are in Hungary (i think) and there english is pretty bad in there emails they are very helpful and resolve the situation.

Good and bad with EVGA

Bad: SHipping to Germany and waiting 6 weeks for a replacement

Good: Got a free upgrade to a newer card.

I sent a 7900gt to them, and had a 8600GTS back, was a bit miffed, but I sold it on the bay and got a 8800gt for about £40 more than that
