Have been thinking about getting this as it seems so long since I played an RTS, but I have a couple of questions..

How is battle.net - is it OK, or does it suck like MW2 matchmaking - I have never had anything to do with blizzard, so am curious to see what people think?

Also - I understand the steep learning curve, and I will spend a while building up my skills, but how does the licensing for the game work.
Id like to install it onto my laptop and main PC - laptop for playing locally and building up my skills and then my main rig for online gaming.
Can I do this? Or will I need to buy two copies? The only reason I want it on the laptop is to keep the missus happy while I spend the hours practicing, or she will never see me :D
Is the licensing tied to the online login or is it local?

battlenet's good, seems to work really well.

Yes there's a learning curve, but it's easy to get into and start off.
You can install it as many times as you like, but afaik can only be logged in on one place at a time.

licensing is tied to the login, so the game will be tied to your blizzard account.

its a yay.. but ive always been a huge fan so may be bias!

Matchmaking is very good.. it works like this
you have 5 "Placement matches", play these, that will put you in a league
Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond. no prizes if you can guess which is noob and pro leagues! :p

Once your in a league, depending on your position, you will play vs players in that same league. if your high up, you'll occasionally play vs players in the league above. if your low down, you'll occasionally get games vs players in a lower league. (if that makes sence)

blizzard have said that it should even out at around a 1:1 win/loss ratio over time. So basically, when you lose, you learn why/how and improve etc. obviously in practise it won't work out 100% of the time. From what i've played so far, it seems really balanced, im losing games as often as i am winning (in general) i think im like 9-6 atm in Platinum league.

Regarding the licensing, you can install it on as many machines as you see fit. once you have isntalled you will be asked to create a battlenet account. this will be used as your login, so you can login from any machine with the software using your battlenet account. Game is tied to your account basically!

for me, the game is well worth the price. It is a quality product, as usual comming from blizzard. Some may think it is overpriced, but it is a better game than any £25 or £30 PC game on the market at the moment.

Who thinks 35 squid is a lot for a game? Seriously that's a cheap night out of a couple of hours, a game like sc2 will give you a lot more entertainment. Weve had it good so far, I'm surprised no one has come out with monthly pricing for games yet - 9.99 a month for as long as you want to play. Pay for 5 months and get the game. Once theyve figured out piracy, and sc2 has done really well on that front, they'll be looking at something like that only more expensive. Anyway, back on point, good game worth it.

I like to think it as you should get £1 per hour for games , the sp only lasts around 12 hours but the mp and challenges will add up more so it's worth it

quality game, finished it last night and all i can say is the SP is epic! haven't started on the challenges or MP yet but all in good time ;)

Stop being such a tight arse.

It's worth every penny for the amount of time you'll play the game.

You people are the cancer that is killing pc gaming.

I'd say it's people like you personally - supporting a company like activision, who feel it's ok to break the game up into 3 seperate parts, each one 35 quid each.
