I bought a new lens today.

Indeed, perhaps I should have specified the 'Macro' version (which is the one I've got and there;s not a sight of wordings on the front). I knew Sigma made different versions thus having to emphasise on stating the Macro version in the later post.

Wait, why would you want a 85mm L when you've already got the f1.8 which is faster in USM AF and based on your logic of 'shop once, buy best', you'd not have bought the 85mm L

I consider the 85L and 85/1.8 to be 2 different class of lenses for different use and can live with both in the bag. The 85L is great for portraits but slower to focus, but gives AMAZING bokeh.

If you have brought the 85mm F/1.2L, you wont be disappointed. Its heavy but gives amazing results.

A sample of the last wedding I did.

As the reviews mentioned its not a fast lens compared to its brother the F/1.8

So what is it then? Since you are talking about the dance I can only assume its gonna be something with a huge aperture at a wide angle to allow for more ambient scenic light during the dance. If it is the 85L then it seems overkill for the first dance in tight spaces?
I rarely use the 85L during the first dance...

Still think its a wide angle boyo

Not just first dance, but generally evening reception, which is like 4hours of a day's shoot so I think its worth it.

I'll let you guys know later. Shame its not here until Friday at the earliest!
