BMW's...I think I want one.

I also think you should be able to get Audi R8s with a 2.0 diesel for this very reason.

What a random thing to say...

I appreciate you were trying to make a point whilst utilising your patented wit, but...your point makes absolutely no sense.

And if you don't want a diesel and the associated problems one might bring? Not to mention the noise.

If its only due to noise, get the 6-pot diesels. If its down to not wanting a diesel then lump the extra 5% runnings costs of a decent 6-cylinder petrol over the 4-pot variants.

When you are talking about cars of this value, what's an additional 5% on running costs?

To be fair I still think that 07 plate 320i Coupe I found the other day for £13.5k was amazing value.

True, but that was a high specced coupe, not a 318 saloon

What happens if i love everything about the E90 3 Series, but don't want large running costs and am not bothered about performance?

Then you'd better don some kind of insulatory layer of protection as the vocals around here don't seem to like this idea very much, as I found when I dared to consider a E92 320i coupe.

I rarely, rarely ever got less than 20 MPG in my 330i. Around town it was more like 22 MPG, and my all time average was about 28-29 MPG.

Exactly the same here. You could get it higher if you made the effort to be really laid back but sooner or later you'll want to put your foot down. THat's one reason I could never quite sustain an over 30 average
