ive had my desire about a month now, and the battery has been fine until today

Last night i used the phone to format the sd card and re-synced my music to it.

this morning i unplugged it as usual and left for work. im now on 23% battery after only 4 hours! the battery was draining stupidly fast for some reason :(

i havnt used it for web browsing etc (and i checked net counter to see usage- about a meg total since midnight), and listened to it on the tram on the way to work as normal. ive since rebooted the phone and it seems to have stopped draining.

I have sync turned on, wi-fi off, screen on auto, bluetooth off and gps off. (no different to how i normally have it)

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this?

i synced just shy of 4 gigs to the phone using the usb cable and itunes sync. i then 'safely removed' the phone, and plugged it into the mains in the bedroom beofre going to bed.

Maybe is has been connecting to the internet to retreive album/track info??

Do you have a option to see what has been using the battery like I do on my X10?

and this is where the apps BatteryHistory and TaskManager come in handy. You can see whats used the most battery, network, CPU usage, and also what's currently using CPU.

I suppose I should have posted that in the Essential Android Apps thread!

yeah, and its mostly android system, cell standby- the usual stuff. im mucho confused.

il;l let it run flat and give it a full charge when i get home and see what happens. if it keeps doing it, then im sure o2 will sort it out.

i turned off all syncing, mobile web, the led and anything else i could. the battery is generally rubbish if used in any way. i generally have to charge mine once or twice a day

in Android 2.0, there was a bug where if you synced too much music in one go, one of the processes that manages the music library went haywire and would just sit at 100% CPU gobbling all your battery.

use a task manager (an advanced one!) to see which process (NOT APPLICATION!) is using all your battery.

either way, restoring to factory settings ought to see it right :)

will that not totally wipe the phone? (i sync contacts from google, so i dont mind too much!)

will that also undo the root? (its been rooted for a couple of weeks, so im confident it has nothing to do with my current issue)

What's mild use?

70% battery here and it's been unplugged over night! 15 hrs or so since my last charge. I don't know what some of you do with your phones, but they must sync an awful lot?

I disabled all the synch apps and it was still bad (2.1)

I spent a few hrs playing flash games online (2.2) last night and mild use i have 30% left. It was recharged yesterday morning

im suffering having to charge at night and then it makes it from 8am to 10pm before i get the warnings :( not overly impressed as the spare £6 battery from ebay lasts as long
