After readin up on what GPU to upgrade to i found the 460 SLI to be best performace/price wise but discovered my Motherboard is Xfire only (swear i read it was both when bought it) So im wondering about the next best option?

Is DX11 that important cos i could add another 4890 to the 1 i have for about £100?

DX11 really isn't a big deal.

Adding a 2nd 4890 would be a great upgrade.

Or if you wanted DX11, you could always go with CF 5850's (almost same price as SLI 460's).

Oh well im suprised to hear that, i was under the impression that 460's SLI were better i just wondered how much... def wasnt expectin them to be worse. lol thanks a lot for that info lads its helped a lot my head has been in bits for a few days deciding what to do, so my crossfire mobo aint a bad thing after all looks like ill go 5850 sli.

Cheers all.

Only thing you gotta consider is the price/performance aspect.

Sell your 4890 for about £70 or so.

That means 2 x 5850 will cost you about £330.

Or you could just buy another 4890 new for ~£115.

Or you could sell the 4890, and buy a single 5870, which will cost you about £200.

So a few choices open to you.

Single 5870 about £300 but know what u meant then im DX11 and always able to add a 5870 and go CF at a later date, but i know me by then DX12 will b out and ill want a DX12 card lol.

The 5870 is lookin favourite now uv put that thought in my mind cheers :)

tbh it would be handy to have a genuine list like this available of all gfx card variables with up-to-date prices for that set up for comparisons, would save a lot of 58** V's 470 Vs 5970 Vs tnt2 vs gforce2 Vs 480 quad sli Vs onboard voodoo type threads

If i deceide to get the 5870 and CF with another later will my cpu and memory (check sig) create a bottleneck?
