Mobile phone insurance

There must be phone insurance available for less than the price of a premium bank account given that neither breakdown cover nor travel insurance is required?

Not necessarily, with the cross-subsidisation that takes place, it could be that those that take 'only' mobile phone insurance have a smaller pool of people paying premiums, and are those more likely to lose/damage their phone and so face payouts, whereas taking a broader approach can result in lower premiums through increased users and spreading the risk.

Just supposition of course, but it's plausible without considering the marketing incentives for the banks to retain your custom and get you signed up for their deals :)

i looked into that before the revelation of bank cover, i see you point but best i found for individual phone insurance was £5 a month with a £50 xs, sorry the name escapes me, so paying £7 a month (£3.50 as i split with the misses) was a no briner as i did not have break down cover and neither did she.
