The top of the tree in road motoring is the Supercar, Hypercars are a figment of peoples imagination, no such thing in my book. It's sports cars and then Supercars. For clarity however, THIS is a Supercar!

Just epic on all levels, only the Italians could design this, they invented the Supercar after all, just special special cars. I think I might PCP one.

Agree 100% it is an epic supercar, however Horacio is Argentinian.....

Only Clarkson used the phrase, then suddenly it's caught on. They're all cars, anything else (supercar, hypercar, sportscar etc) is a colloquialism and the definition will change depending upon who you speak to, but they'll get the gist.

That is a hypercar now, along with the Veyron.

That's a hypercar in my book. Supercars don't have anywhere near that amount of carbon fibre, for example.

To me, its not just performance that separates the cars into their respective groups, but how special and exotic they appear to be. For example, a new Ferrari 458 Italia might be quicker than an F50, but it's not in the same league. Why? Because they won't be a particularly rare car. There isn't enough compromise in the vehicle and it all appears a bit too sane or ordinary, if you could ever call a Ferrari that.
