Titan Fenrir - add second fan = cooler?

You might get a few degrees of difference.

I'm not convinced it really makes all that much of a difference. I have on on my Noctua but it came like that and cba to test it with and without.

I don't think you can officially add one can you? And yes, it probably would make it cooler but only by a few degress.

ah yes. just looked inside my pc and it doesnt have the little clippy thigns for it.

I may re-apply paste as I think I have had it orientated in the case wrong as well.

I have a 120mm fan that came with my Tuniq tower, which I lost the AM3 cllips for :/

What mega noisey super cool 120mm fan can I use?

Akasa viper produce good airflow but maybe too slow at 1900 rpm.

Scythe ultra Kaze 38mm fans perhaps.

Beyond a certain point you get diminished return on your extra speed.

I just bought a fenrir for my son's 920 setup and at first i was getting outrageous temps with MX-3 i tried several mounts and each time i removed the Fenrir it was as if the cooler was allergic to TIM as it has spread almost totally off the CPU and HS

I used Artic Silver cleaning AND surface purifier, as the cleaner should just be alcohol i would have though this would have evaporated away by the time i mounted but not sure about the purifier so i tried without using that

I got satisfactory results by first spreading a thin film ( yes my MX-3 spreads easily) over the HS then with a very small amount of residue that was left on my spreader i "bloomed" the CPU so it had just a dull covering of TIM

I then put a fair sized blob of TIM on the CPU, the size of this is tricky to describe but a medium sizes unfrozen garden pea size !!! ( Is that the African swallow or the European swallow ?)

I also used to put some tim on the fenrir as well as the cou, there are groves on its base where the heatpipes meet the base and these need to be filled. Adding another fan won't make a massive difference, maybe a couple of degrees but that maybe all you need.

You can add an extra fan on an AMD build easy enough, have the stock fan on the bottom and the extra fan on top. It can either sit there comfortably or be held in place by rubber bands :)

You may squeeze a few degrees out of it :)

What case you got?
Moving from a CM335 to an Antec 902 knocked 13 degrees off my temps! Moving from the 902 to a 1200 knocked another 2 off it :)

My fenrir held my B50 @ 4Ghz with temps maxing at 57 but I didn't like having it at 1.525v way too much vcore for daily use imo :(

Due to how I can only mount the Fenrir on an AMD mb, in the HAF 932 max temps was 70c. Slapped on a noisy 92mm fan on top of it and max temps are now 60c.

Well just done it! im down 4C at idle!!!!!

I moved the stock fenrir to the pull position and used my old tuniq tower 120mm to replace the fenrir cooler.

Awsome! Think I can hit 4Ghz stable now!
