PlayStation Plus gets is right!

Why are ps3 owners so adverse to paying for this? it sounds like a great deal to me and pushes PSN closer to Live which is what is needed.

My biggest probelm with PSN is its just not as good as live when i comes to playing with your freinds. 9 times out of 10 on PSN if I want to play with someone I end up calling them on the phone to get the game aranged and thats just not good.

If I had my Ps3 out here with me, I'd sign up. but I only had room in the suitcase for one console so xbox won out.

you get free games, free premium themes, free avatars and 50 % off marketplace games every month with your xbox live too ????

How do you get free games? You dont actually own them, the DRM expires when you cancel PSN+ Thats not getting something for free, not in my book.

And how is this anything like xbox live - xbox live you pay to play, PSN+ adds nothing other than discounted purchases and a game rental. Its still missing all the basic features that makes live so playable...

a. Cross game chat at the OS level
b. Party support at the OS level
c. Full invite system thats not rubbish and hacked into the existing message system
d. Syncing trophies (achievements)
e. Player ratings, feedback and zones

So, 4 years after PS3 is launched, they are still shy of features xbox has had since launch day. Rubbish.

Wow a 13 year old game for free you say? I must get me a PS3 so I can play free dated games!

Live gets deals of the week every week with a % off marketplace content, and you get to download demo's earlier than silver subscribers. Free themes and avatars? They're worthless anyway so who cares...

Or they're are useful to people like the OP who uses these kind of things. Go play on Live, this isn't what the thread is about (Live is awesome btw :p).

You don't need to pay to play with PSN because it's absolutely free, this is an optional service, unlike Xbox Live where you HAVE to pay otherwise you can't play online.

Cross game chat, party support and invites could easily have been put under one point there so stop trying to make out that Xbox Live has some huge and extensive list of features that the PSN doesn't have because in reality the only real difference that Xbox Live has over the PSN is the party system. Admittedly it's a good feature, it makes joining friends very easy. This is rumoured for PSN and if it did come then there wouldn't really be anything to choose between the two. Feedback means sod all because EVERYONE has 5 stars anyway as they just get their mates to give him a good rating. I had Xbox Live for almost 4 years and not once I was given, or gave feedback to another person, apart from at the beginning to give my friends a 5 star rating and to receive one from them. It doesn't add anything and it doesn't indicate anything either. Zones also mean jack all, it doesn't even effect who you get matched up with in online games, so in practice all they do is display some extra unneeded crap on your gamer card.

Not sure what you mean about syncing trophies because we already have those.

Either way, this thread was created to discuss this month and next months content on the PSN+ service, where did anyone mention they wanted to compare Xbox Live and PSN+? Nowhere, that's where. I'm sick of the fanboys coming in each others threads and starting console wars, it's becoming detrimental to the forums and you can guarantee that threads on either console are soon met by rabid fanboys wading in and taking the thread topic entirely off course. It's about time that inside the console subsection we had Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft sub sections because this is just getting ridiculous with the same few people saying the same few things over and over, it's getting a bit tiresome, you don't like the PS3, great, we already know that so instead of coming in and taking a discussion completely off topic why don't you create your own thread if this is the kind of discussion you want to hold.

Where did I once say I didn't like the PS3? I've got 2 and had once since launch day. It only about 3 months I've had 360 and the difference in usability between the 2 services is night and day. The OP said PSN+ was getting it right, I'm doing my best to educate otherwise - if you can't get that into your skull then your the fanboy that can't look past the sony brand. Clown.

No you're not doing your best to educate. You're doing your best to derail a thread that had absolutely nothing to do with Xbox Live whatsoever. If you want to have that discussion then go make your own thread on that specific topic. Also, stop casting your opinion and putting it across as if it's a fact because it isn't. The usability of the two services is a night and day comparison is an opinionated statement, so stop being an arse and think how you're putting yourself across before you start getting hard behind your keyboard, son.

He said the PS+ was getting it right by starting to give away content that people might actually want, in regards to Sam & Max and Abe's Oddysee which are both critically acclaimed pieces of software. What he didn't say was "PS+ is way better than Xbox Live" which is basically the point you are trying to make, and if you are claiming to not have something against Sony / Playstation then judging from your posts in this thread and other threads in regards to the PS3 then I'm afraid you're the clown. :)

I think Killswitch has picked out most of the holes in your statement already, but just to clarify Xbox didn't have cross game chat from launch...

Sam & Max isn't 13 years old is it?

And the PSN also has fortnightly discounts off selected content so in that regards they offer pretty much the same service....

A playstation 1 game and a game thats been available for download for months (one thats average at best). Smashing.

For me, and I'm only speaking for myself, PSN+ will never be an attractive proposition. I only game on my PS3 when I can grab an hour or two a few times a week, I always buy games that I'll fancy as they come out- so not interested in the loan of games offered, and as for the themes etc, the default one is perfect for me.

I don't know what they'd have to offer to get me interested, as for me the free service already available on PSN is just perfect.

The OP said PSN+ was getting it right, I'm doing my best to educate otherwise - if you can't get that into your skull then your the fanboy that can't look past the sony brand. Clown.
So you are trying to 'educate' me out of my personal opinion?
I got PS+ on release day, even though I owned pretty much all the games on offer at that point, because I wanted the extra functionality.
The original games on offer were old and well-owned, so offered little benefit to most long-term PS3 owners, but they asked people on the EU blog to let them know what games they would like to be included in future and Sam & Max was one of the more popular ones. It has also been noted repeatedly on the blog that the US are getting a much better deal than us, so the inclusion of additional content over the course of the month is also a step in the right direction.
I don't really give a toss about any of the points you made, none of them are things I particularly want or need.
So what if the PS3 doesn't have features that the Xbox has had since launch, the PS3 had stuff from launch that the 360 still doesn't have.

Stop trying to rationalise your fanboyism by saying you were trying to do me a favour, you don't know me, you don't know my preferences, so why waste keystrokes trying to 'educate' me out of my well reasoned opinion?

Btw Sam and Max is 4 months old, unless you're talking about the IP, which is obviously 13 years old, but I don't see how that's relevant.

Trying not to sound like a fanboy here...

Obviously PSN Plus isnt going to sound like a brilliant thing compared to regular PSN when you compare the difference between Xbox Live Silver and Gold. The main reason poeple are willing to spend £40 a year on Xbox live Gold is the fact that you can play games online. PSN had this from the start for free, so PSN Plus has no mega selling feature over the free version. Therefore to make it worthwhile they HAVE to offer free games and discounts and various other stuff to justify the price.

The fact is it costs £3.33 a month. You probably couldnt buy one PSN game for that much each month, but Sony have given us 2 plus extra stuff. Then theres the extra features such as early access to betas, full game demos, automatic dowloads etc etc etc.

If you regularly buy PSN games (and by regularly i mean 6 a year) then you would be a fool not to take advantage of PSN Plus. For others who have no interest in PSN games or PS1 Classics, save your money unless you really want the other features.

Whereas on Xbox live, you don't even get games for the length of your subscription. GOOD DEAL HUH!?

a. Not up to date on PS3 news then?

b. Party support. Because that's useful. Tell me, why do I need it?

c. And what exactly does this full invite system do that the current system does not?

d. Again, blind ignorance.

e. Well, that's going to make my gaming experience so much better isn't it? Pre-teens rating me down because I caned them on FIFA.

4 years down the line and the PS3 is still shy of the fail rates of the launch Xbox. Thank God for that.

Where did I once say I didn't like the PS3? I've got 2 and had once since launch day. It only about 3 months I've had 360 and the difference in usability between the 2 services is night and day. Whereas I too had both and found the difference between the two services to be minimal in a way that mattered to me. I sure as hell wasn't going to continue paying for cross-game chat. NEVER have I had to talk to someone who was playing a different game. Why would you need to?

Wow a 13 year old game for free you say? I must get me a PS3 so I can play free dated games!

PSN also has deals, and PSN+ also allows you to download demo's earlier than regular PSN members.

About 10 years hyundi ran a set of adverts that went something along the lines of 'electric windows and metallic paint as standard - that will by the hyundi'. And the tards were over the moon.... but what they really did was simply scrap the lower entry level model and options (effectively putting the minimum price up) and stopping you having the choice of paying for it or not.

Its just the same smoke and mirrors trick that sony is doing now.... pay to 'get a free game' (which expires if you cancel the membership), and discounts on stuff. Smashing so they are charging you to get a discount on things you probs wouldn't normally buy. A membership to lovefilm would be probs more cost effective and least then you get to play full games without any restrictions.

£200 worth of content for £40 a year. Yeah, excuse me whilst I go cry into my cornflakes.
