So I decided it was just so cheap I couldn't help my self. Sure it could explode and kill off my (dads) components but I think the most likely thing is it just wont work, so I thought I'd take the gamble.

I wont fit it till late tonight but I will update this thread if anything exciting happens, assuming I still have enough fingers left to type with.

The one thing that I did notice was in big letters, on the front of the box, it says "Extremely Silence Power Supply", not the best of omens but we will see.

Thinking of getting one for my home server/htpc any advice?

Well everyone says never skimp on the PSU but now also syaing this could be an exception, I'm not a beliver in these OcUK PSUs why not just go for a Corsair CX 400 is it?

Valid point there, it is also twice as much though.

?

Ah, no PCI-E connectors? ...There are various over adapters. Not ideal though.

It has the 20+4 pin connector but the there is also a separate 6pin connection. On my other PSU it is labled as the "P8 Connector"

Edit: Sorry I lied it is an 8pin, just like the adapter you linked there. However the supply doesn't have any 6pin pci-e connectors either so that doesn't really help :P

I Could get a molex to 6 pin adapter and then the 6 pin to 8pin adapter but that just sounds like a recipe for disaster.

the 4 pin will work in the 8 pin slot.

the psu has the 20+4 and the 4 pin motherboard connectors and is fine in basic pc's with no higher end graphics cards using no more than about 200w (total for the pc) i would say.

:) lots of lower wattage psu's only have the 4 pin mobo connector like the ocz 1st gen 400w and 500w stealthxstreams, if you are not doing any extreme overclocking and sucking lots of cpu voltage they are fine.
the 8 pin gives more voltage and more stable voltage i believe when you need the extra power.
