So who's got an XBOX "Slim" coming this week?

My old 360 died so I got one of these. Actually much happier with it than I thought I'd be. Game make me laugh though. I needed to use the transfer cable so bought one. They told me I could take it back if I liked once used and they'd give me £3 for it lol.

I used it, took it back boxed (good as new) and insisted it was unopened. Got a full refund.

was this at the same game store you got the transfer cable from lol? also how did you get a refund i.e. what was your excuse for returning it ?

Well I was a bit tactical. In Brighton, there are two Game stores within 500m of each other. I went to the one I didn't buy it from and told them that I didn't know at first that you could use a USB stick to transfer data from one hard drive to another. I said I found out today so realised I wouldn't need the cable.

The guy seemed half convinced but it was enough lol. He said something along the lines of 'it looks like it was opened to me' because of the stickers that press down on the top of the box and I just said 'it was like that when I got it, the other branch have them on display unlike you guys'. This was actually true so for all I know people are doing this regularly.

I recently acquired a 'slim' also and I am also concerned about how hot it gets around the side vent, especially when you have the in the vertical position.

Build quality seems better though, feels more solid and less 'creaky' when handling the unit, my main incentive for purchasing the slim was to lower the noise, the slim is still not 'silent' as many people claim, but is is much much better, to be fair the PSU is noisier than the system itself, but not annoyingly so, it's not a whine like my old PSU, but rather a low whooshing sound of air which is much more tolerable and in the day with ambient noise it is practically silent.

I guess we'll just have to see how long these new systems last before I pass full judgement on them.

Also I'm not sure of everyone knows this but the arcade version of the 'slim' will have 4gig internal ram and will be matt rather than gloss, I think I'll grab one of those when there available as I'd prefer matt tbh.

I don't understand why people are concerned about it getting hot at a vent? It's pushing the heat out of the vent effectively - that's why it's so hot. Would you rather it were just warm at the vent and your chips were melting inside? That's what happened with the old 360.

I just got one at the weekend.

Whilst i'm glad to finally have a working xbox again i'm a bit dissapointed at the noise of it. I'm not sure if i just forgot how loud it was but this one seems louder than my old Xbox Premium :(

same with me, my cable cost me 20 quid and its done its job so its goin back because ill never use it again. £20 is way too much, now if it was £5 i would have just kept it. ill be buying a new game with the same money.

I like the look of the New Matt 4Gb version But i dont like the £149 price.. There are a couple of places you can get the 250Gb Slim for £185-189 so paying £35 more for the storage is worth the money. If it was £129 that would be far better price point as it gives a clear £60 price difference for the Storage.... I can see it apealing to people with elites already with the £120 hdd but i am sure they would be in the same mind and jsut pay the extra...

I'm with you there on the matt finish Xbox, my keyboard and LCD is already costing me a fortune in alcohol wipes which seem to be the only thing soft enough not to easily scratch and also remove finger butter.

It even says on the back of the 4gb slim boxes apparently that you can upgrade the HDD. There was photos kicking about on Kotaku etc.

Couple of pics of my new 4gb matte
