Thats without any strobes or lights lol

Some of these shopping baskets are rather silly! lol

Especially twoblacklines' list

a 200-400 ? when you have all the primes to go with it? erm No.

64G CF card? Erm, NO, not only it is silly money, its not safe to keep that much photos on 1 card.

And why on earth do you need to run Canon AND Nikon?

People choolse Nikon mainly because of the D700, if you can afford the 1DsMKIII then there is no big reason to go Nikon because at that point you will realise Nikon prime glass are rather limited compare to Canon. And then add a 1DsIII with only 1 Canon lens, a 16-35? When you already have a 14-24 for the Nikon?

It's one thing about "drop the cash without thinking". Its quite another to be rather to be erm...carried away and silly....

For example, why did you add a 5Dii grip in there when you didn't put a 5Dii in the basket?

This is a fantasy shop thread, so saying peoples choices are silly is a bit...well silly lol

Everything I have now really plus:

D3x
200 f2
14-24

And maybe a 500 VR for when I can't travel with the 600.

I've never once had a memory card fail in all my years so I'd happily shoot with 64gb cards. Especially as 1080p video will eat in to that nicely (once Nikon do a camera that shoots it!)

Yeah you might as well just cut and paste a stores complete stock list and say I might as well have it all but threads like this are never sensible with a list of items you would actually use or even have the first clue how to use :D

I kept mine simple with the view that I want to start buying a few OCF items to start to make a bit of progress in OCF techniques. If I got too much stuff I'd never learn any of it. :)

You wont need 2 grips. In fact, i got on fine without the grip on my other 5D. I have it because its a LONG day. and the grip allow for 2 batts. The grip weights a bit, you will feel it carrying 2 cams.

I use my grip on my 5D more for ergonomics than battery life, although I do appreciate the benefits of the prolonged battery life.

I just much prefer the feel in my hand and comfort when shooting, both landscape and portrait :)
Surprising considering I have sausage fingers :(

I think my list was fairly sensible, although I now realise I haven't even added any lenses :p

From warehouseexpress;

Bowens Gemini 500/500/500R Three Head Kit
SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB 600x UDMA Compact Flash (x3)
Nikon D3x Digital SLR Camera Body
Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 G AF-S ED Lens
Nikon 85mm f1.4 D AF Lens
Nikon 135mm f2 D AF DC Lens
Nikon 50mm f1.4 D AF Lens

--

£10073.96 inc. Delivery :p

Just under half of that is the camera :( replaced the 70-200 with the 24-70, would possibly want the 70-200 too, but it was getting to the stage of just adding stuff for the sake of it.

More sensible;

Bowens Gemini 500/500/500R Three Head Kit
SanDisk Extreme Pro 16GB 600x UDMA Compact Flash (x3)
Nikon D700 Digital SLR Camera Body
Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 G AF-S ED Lens
Nikon 70-200mm AF-S Nikkor f2.8G ED VR II Lens
Nikon 85mm f1.4 D AF Lens
Nikon 135mm f2 D AF DC Lens
Nikon 50mm f1.4 D AF Lens

Well, there's silly and there is pointless. Its not like the 5Dii grip can go on the 1D is it?
Yes true, maybe he forgot to add the body!

But why care if someone says Nikon and Canon, why care if they want 64gb cards, why care if they want all the primes to go in between a range that's already covered. The question asked was what if money was no object

In reality, if money was no object we'd all just have EVERYTHING so we had all bases covered...woohoo! :D

Exactly, if money is no object then might as well cut and paste the catalogue. But when you start choosing then some thought should go into it.

Super-ideal
2 x 1D Mark IV - do everything I need, and two bodies is usually enough.
16-35L - Wider and newer than my 17-35L
70-200L (might aswell go IS Mark II)
24-70L - Haven't really found a need for one of these yet. But I might aswell.
35L - Might be handy in low-light.
135L - Indoor sports.
200L f/2 - More indoor work.
400L f/2.8 - All of the field and track work.
2x
1.4x

Total: £25668.94
:eek::eek::eek::eek:

Compared to current stuff:
2 x 1D Mark II
17-35L [f/2.8]
70-200L [f/2.8]
50mm f/1.8
85mm f/1.8
300mm f/2.8 non-IS (on loan from paper untill 21/12)
2x Mark I
1.4x Kenko

Cost to me: £2700
(so 10 times less? - but when I have to buy my own 300 2.8 or 400 2.8, my total on just cameras plus lenses will be 5k - still five times less.)

Probably where I'm heading over the next year or two...

1D Mark II
1D Mark III - Both bodies are fine for most work.
17-35L
70-200L
50mm f/1.4
135L
400mm f/2.8
1.4x
2x

If I bought that used - £7.5-£8k - pretty good going I reckon. (remembering a 400mm f/2.8 is about as expensive/awesome as a lens could get)

Only a small list from me.

Nikon AF-S 16-35mm f/4G VR
Nikon AF-S 200mm f/2G ED-IF VR

I already have all the other gear I need :)

I'm still pretty clueless,

Probably either the Sigma 30mm f1.4 or the Nikon 35mm f1.8.
Something with more reach then my kit lens,
And maybe something faster then my kit lens with VR.

Oh and some ND grads.

"I'm minted, buy whatever you need for photography, I'll pay for it"

Thankyou Phate. Very generous of you. My current wish-list is:

Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye £639.99
Canon EF 400mm f/2.8L USM IS £6,664.00 (but I'll wait for the MkII)
Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L £1,969.00
Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II £1,839.99
Sigma 8mm f/3.5 EX DG Circular Fisheye £617.00
Canon 1Ds4 £6000.00 (price is a guess)
And a bunch of ND10 filters (unpriced)

£17,724

If I were to stick it out with Sony;

alpha a900
NEX-5 (with adapters)
alpha a750 (when it finally gets released)

Sony Zeiss 24-70 f2.8
Sony Zeiss 85mm f1.4
Sony 70-200G f2.8

3x Sony HVL F58AM

also some constant studio lights

3x Arri 300 Plus Lamps

plus various stands/tripods and colour gels

Not forgetting of course that this man/woman with infinite money would also have to buy me a studio space and employ a make up artist, and an assistant/runner to go and get lunch, make tea and collect clients from the station...

D3x + D3s + D700 (and i know the differences)
14-24mm, 24-70, 70-200vr2, 200F2, 200-400VR2 and all the long primes. Then i would try and find the 300F2 and the Nikkor Noct 52mm :)
+ Canon 5dmk2 - 85L, 50L, 35L for studio work.
And ofcourse all the monitors, big apple comps etc to go with it. £75k ish.
And a 2010 Audi RS6 Avant to carry it all round + Fuel card!

Why would you want a 5dmk2 for studio work when you would have a much better D3X!

Got all of that already, so the only thing I would like to add are some Carl Zeiss glass toghether with Gitzo CF tripod and RRS ballhead. Oh and some Lee filters as well.

That was my original point lol

Because unless it's vaguely sensible and interesting then we may as well post a link to Nikon and Canon's pro catalogues and close the thread... (and that's close to what some people are doing - take two of all the best and most expensive gear going regardless of whether it's useful to what you photograph, wow that's well thought out).
