Has anybody ever taken the time...To just admire how stupendously beautiful our world

To just admire how stupendously beautiful our world is? I live in the south west and am lucky enough to be situated in the middle of the Quantock hills, surrounded by fantastic views seasoned with a huge array of wildlife. Only recently have I just stopped and thought, "Damn... This is so incredible."

What did it for me was when I was looking at a lavender bush in our garden (it's fairly large), and there must have been twenty bees going out their business on it. Just thinking about the harmony that they were all operating in, the harmony that exists between the plant and the bee(s), and the huge chains of dependence that nature has evolved... You can take any little snapshot like that, be it in the countryside, in a city, in a desert, in the middle of a lake, anywhere. When one considers how we have evolved to the creatures that are sat here reading this thread, there are just so many different things you can think about and consider. The best bit is that each one is more fantastic than the last. Our world is just awe inspiring, sublime and one could even say that it's transcendent in the strongest sense of the word.

I should also point out that I take an entirely materialistic of the world and everything in it, so this is coming from somebody that doesn't believe in anything supernatural (not a dig or anything of the sort, just adding extra clarity).

Does anybody, or has anybody ever had similar feelings? :)

I have a similar feeling when i look up into the sky on a clear night, and i think about how small i am, that i'm standing on a rock literally hurtling through space with an unimaginable amount of other creatures. That makes me feel part of something huge. And then i think about how this process is replicated on almost every one of those pricks of light, which are actually far larger than anything i could imagine and the same for the distance between them... and around some of them there could be life, just like us, looking up into the sky and thinking these exact same things. I could do this for hours, and i wouldn't change a thing.

I do but it makes me sad that I wont be around to see what happens to this planet and universe, we are just a moment in its lift time, FFFFUUUU

Yes. My favourite activity is lying in a field full of lush green grass, with not a cloud in the sky. Unfortunately, I don't get to do that often enough and haven't done it for a while :(

Absolutely! I remember seeing an interview with Ricky Gervais, he was being asked about religion and saying that he was an atheist. His point was that he didn't think there was anything more beautiful than millions of years of evolution to create the world that we live in today. I know it's going a little off topic but it's kinda how I feel about it all.

Now you see, i get that but i don't feel bad about it, as there's nothing you can do about it. Since nothing we do actually matters at all - to anyone, all that you can really do is live life to it's fullest and be happy, try to make a difference to those around you.

Same here but on clear nights I could stare at the moon for hours.

What I particularly like is seeing a plane fly through clouds at night time. You can see beams of light stretching out in front of them, like headlights on a car. It's impressive.

Didn't they make a peep show episode about going to the quantocks, 2 for 1 mega deal In The daily mail.

All the time in fleeting moments, usually centred around how the Sun/Moon/Stars fall and shine in a certain situation.

Noticed the moon the other night at my mates flat and called him out to the balcony, everything just seemed so clear - but seemed to be climbing a little more obviously than before (if that makes sense).

He wasnt interested, i stood there and watched it climb for about 10 minutes smiling to myself until it was lost in the cloud.

stuff like that is what i tend to notice.
