HTC Desire Vodafone update warning

Vodafone upsets customers with upgrade downgrade

Link to article

After a colleague of mine had Android 2.2 installed automatically by orange I made the mistake of checking for upgrades on my phone - thinking the system update would take me to Android 2.2 I installed and all I got was Vodafone bloatware that I can't uninstall - B@57@rds

*******EDIT******* Sorry forgot to state this is for the HTC Desire

Hi, I work for orange and can confirm it's not out yet. The person who got it probably has a stock HTC desire through mobiles.co.uk / cpw / p4u etc...

ha, I was thinking along those lines, nothing against Orange (i am with them) but my guess it will be quite some time before 2.2 comes out for Orange handsets, I mean they have to go through all the "testing".....

i advise everyone to get a stock rom on and have the update as your phone maker intended, the companies like voda just butcher them

3 to 4 weeks for making sure the amazing traffic tv works / testing ;)

Yes - this is great in theory.
However many people are on 18-24 month contracts.
So that is 18-24 months of phone ownership with no warranty.

I don't mind doing such a thing on a relatively cheap item, but it isn't cheap to replace the Desire if it goes faulty within those 24 months.
