My 4 year old Jack Russell, Angel, passed away last night.

She had been in and out of the vets for the last two weeks due to something she had ingested.

She had a wonderful character, very loving, protective - the postman can testify to this -. She would always follow me about where ever I went. As soon as I picked the car keys up, she would be waiting at the car, she loved travelling in the car with me.

When I picked her from the vets this morning she looked very peaceful as she laid next to me for her final journey in the car. I buried her on the land.

I will have to say, I've never had so much emotion this morning, than my entire life.

Angel, you are very well loved by the family and will always be sorely missed.

Sorry to hear that man.

Always horrible to loose a pet.

How are your other dog's - have the noticed she isn't around?

Aww sucks man it really does and it does hurt a hell of a lot...

Dogs Don't Have Souls, Do They?

I remember bringing you home. You were so small and cuddly with your tiny paws and soft fur.
You bounced around the room with eyes flashing and ears flopping.
Once in a while, you'd let out a little yelp just to let me know this was your territory.
Making a mess of the house and chewing on everything in sight became a passion, and when I scolded you, you just put your head down and looked up at me with those innocent eyes, as if to say, "I'm sorry, but I'll do it again as soon as you're not watching."
As you got older, you protected me by looking out the window and barking at everyone who walked by.
When I had a tough day at work, you would be waiting for me with your tail wagging just to say, "Welcome home. I missed you. "You never had a bad day, and I could always count on you to be there for me.
When I sat down to read the paper and watch TV, you would hop on my lap, looking for attention. You never asked for anything more than for me to pat your head so you could go to sleep with your head over my leg.
As you got older, you moved around more slowly. Then, one day, old age finally took its toll, and you couldn't stand on those wobbly legs anymore. I knelt down and patted you lying there, trying to make you young again. You just looked up at me as if to say you were old and tired and that after all these years of not asking for anything, you had to ask me for one last favor. With tears in my eyes, I drove you one last time to the vet. One last time, you were lying next to me.
For some strange reason, you were able to stand up in the animal hospital, perhaps it was your sense of pride.
As the vet led you away, you stopped for an instant, turned your head and looked at me as if to say, "Thank you for taking care of me.

I thought, "No... thank you for taking care of me."

you will sweetie, we lost our 14yr old Potters 3 weeks back, put down late evening at home, buried in the morning in the butterfly garden. Young bitch Isadorabull aborted a nearly term litter, and young dog castrated, all in couple of weeks.
Caught myself calling him in only last week, and bawled, and bawled.
But its worth it, for the love they give to us. you'll never be lonely with a dog, our pack is now 5, but puppies again next year....

I am sorry to hear this :( I know how you feel though as i had a collie that had to be put down when she was young (only 2) as she had a brain tumour. Worse thing was that i never got to say goodbye as i was at school. The tumour got more aggressive so when she was due for a check up they decided it was best :(

The only positive thing i can say is at least you got to say goodbye.
RIP

Depends on how high it fell from surely.

But yeah, it's not a good thing! We had a red back parrot years ago that died and was buried in the garden, it wasn't too attached to us though as it was bought as an adult. The Cockatiels now though if anything happens to them it would have an affect as they have been in the family since they were potential omelettes!
