Its time for a TomTom...

Not even Brian Blessed's voice could make me ever think of owning a TomTom.
 
Google nav caches the entire route upon calculation so no need for data coverage during the route. Only if you stray off course will data be required to recalculate the route again but it's not going to be every day that you miss a turning when the voice is reading out road names, junction exit numbers, motorway numbers, fork bearings and not just once but multiple times leading up to the next turning or exit.

I've driven over 1000 miles using Google nav and have not encountered a single issue with "it".


Well I have once, in London where a complete new road layout fooled it but I quickly saw the alternate root and it recalculated fine.
