Its time for a TomTom...

I don't especially care about the screen size, or battery life, model number, or even cost really.

I could even borrow my g/f's ordinary Sat Nav if I needed to get somewhere.

But I feel a strong need for a TomTom now after reading this:

Only if you use a hack to download all the maps prior to your journey, otherwise it's a bit useless if you go somewhere out of 3G coverage.

Google nav caches the entire route upon calculation so no need for data coverage during the route. Only if you stray off course will data be required to recalculate the route again but it's not going to be every day that you miss a turning when the voice is reading out road names, junction exit numbers, motorway numbers, fork bearings and not just once but multiple times leading up to the next turning or exit.

I've driven over 1000 miles using Google nav and have not encountered a single issue with "it".


Well I have once, in London where a complete new road layout fooled it but I quickly saw the alternate root and it recalculated fine.
