Corsair H50 or Noctua NH-D14 Dual Radiator?

Hey all,

I am attempting to build my first PC but i am struggling to decide on what CPU cooler to get. Both get good reviews and are a similar price. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Also, the Noctua seems massive. Would it be able to fit in a Coolermaster CM-690 II Advanced case? Or is there a case more suitable for a similar price?

Motherboard: Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58
Video card: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 5870

Advice on both the cooler and case would be greatly received.

Noctua for sure, if it fits, someone else will have to let you know that, as i don't know for sure myself.

I would wait for someone to review H70 properly and then decide.. (new version of h50)

Noctua, absolutely love mine. You can check it fits by measuring the case. Or Google - it will fit:

Yeah the Noctua NH-D14 will definately be better if it fits. But wait for some decent reviews of the H70.

The Noctua gets better ratings all round but needs a large case. You may have an issue with large ram when using all slots but my 12 GB bog standard corsair fits fine though i would need to remove the noctua to get at them

The H50 is cheaper and for say a 4.0 ghz o/c when you would probably hit say 75 C max on prime then it would be good enough. it allows easy acess and does not block RAM

However water is water and if it were to leak....

And you have to decide if the fans on a noutua are less likely to fail than the fans and pump on an H50. what are the replacemt costs like for a pump as compared to a fan ?

Get the Noctua! Best air cooler on the market by a nice margin.

Thanks for the feedback all, really helpful.

Quite confident i will not have any problems with the size of the Noctua now, and although it is tempting to look in to the H70, i think the Noctua will do the job i require and then some!

Having seen reviews the noctua looks to beat out the H50. The H70 only looks slightly better than H50, so i would say if u have the room go for the noctua.

The fans on the Noctua are whisper quiet. The H50's is quite loud!

Indeed, that is what I heard as well, but you can always change the fans on either regardless.

I know Corsair said the pump is silent, but the model I had was quite loud tbh.

incase you still haven't made you mind up, ive literally swapped from a h50-1 to a NH-D14 today.

And the results are pretty amazing, its easily knocked off 10c from my load temperatures and its no louder than the h50.
