367mph Bus

Jet engine just kicked in y0

The yellow American-style school bus has been fitted with a jet engine from a Phantom fighter plane, allowing it to reach up to 367mph.

Paul Stender and his team from Indy Boys Inc, based in Indianapolis, USA adapted the bus which uses a full tank of 150 gallons of fuel in just one quarter-mile run.

Mr Stender, 43, said: "I built the bus for two reasons. The first is to entertain people because, come on, it's a jet bus.
"The second, is to keep kids off drugs. Jets are hot, drugs are not.
"The entire vehicle was custom built by myself. There's no way the original bus could have withstood the speeds that I take it to.
"We do a lot of displays at schools and we are trying to show them there's more to life than sitting in front of computers.

nope its not doing 367mph... the run at the end I would estimate topped about 120. (Possibly a little more as its a big vehicle moving fast as above) but certainly not doing 200+.

Surprised it has suitable aerodynamics to run at this speed! Looks like it should flip end on end from the drag, must be weighted in the base or something.

Most of ours are flat 6's, though we have the odd V8 and V10 engined service buses.

All turbocharged, but they'll all still be outdragged by a 50cc moped at the lights

Our coaching operation has a lot of 59 plate Volvo 50-footers with a rather massive and growly 12-litre turbocharged V12 that, once rolling, don't half shift when you plant the boot in. They hide their 25 tonnes very well and are a dream to drive.

I'd say it's right from the outside, the larger something is, the more it hides it's speed.

From the inside, the larger a vehicle, the more speed it seems to be carrying.
