I came across this image from another thread on here regarding the Desire HD.

http://www.androidguys.com/2010/08/...one-inventory-system/thumb_550_htc-desire-hd/

Look at the battery option, and note in the image it says 1400mAh.

Now, I don't quite know what the rest of the stuff on that line means, but assuming this is a battery for the Desire, i'm intrigued. Not least because the default desire battery is only 1300mAh is it not?

I also note on ebay, 1600mAh and even 2500mah batteries available for the Desire (or Nexus). This will improve battery life considerably.

I don't know about desire batteries but there is a big ebay market for PSP batteries that claim to have 2-3 times the capacity of a standard battery. I almost bought one but from having a search around, I could only find bad comments about them. They are meant to be weaker than a standard battery.

If someone could make a battery with 3 times the power density and at half the price... the manufacturers would be doing so already.

It is feasible that some percentage increase is possible in the same case, due to perhaps using slight better materials or thinner case but 3 times is pushing it.

its the only thing that lets the desire down, but then again, its pretty much the same for all smart phones, if apple have not come out with something then it shows its an issue. im not a apple fan, but the ipad and ibooks batteries last a long time! - they can't generate it into the iphones so not surprising anyone else can yet.

however the £6 battery from ebay is good for a spare

It's down to size.. people want a small phone but they also want the (small) battery to last a long time.. the technology hasn't caught up yet :( . They seem to have got "make it last a day" done right though, so you only have to charge it on a night.

indeed, i recommend hammering ebay for cheap 2nd chargers, i got a car one for 99p all in, as if you use sat nav it will kill 100% battery in 45 mins - trust me!

the iPhone4 battery is very impressive compared to HTC's and Samsung's efforts.

not really, my brother and about 7 people i work with all have the iphone4 i would say there is no difference, all off them need to charge at the end of the day, we had a big chat just yesterday about the whole thing, sure if you charge first thing in the morning it will last 24 hours but then your on empty, ALL of them say they whack it on charge at night or get caught short in the day.

45 mins :/

I use it on and off some days and it does go down, nothing major tho!

I did use it for about 35/40 mins the other day (was mega lost lol) and it only took it down to just under 80%... 78% or something!

My battery has been unplugged just shy of 2 hours and it has lost 20%!
Sync was turned on, as was Wifi.

The usage stats are Cell Standby 28%
Wifi 29%
Phone idle 26%
Android system 13%
Display 4%

This really gets on my nerves how bad my battery is, do you think its faulty?

Is anybodies battery as bad as that?

2 hours and 12 minutes 73%
wow thats bad and i cannot figure out why!

Oh and i haven't rooted so am on stock

the iPhone 4 isn't much better. My friend has one and was telling me the other day that by 10pm after unplugging at 7am it was down to 16%. But, he has a car dock thing so it's kind of always on charge

At the risk of one sploding in my pants I would not purchase en ebay battery that isn't a HTC original.

It does get hot in my pants afteall!!!

Options -> mobile network -> turn off 'always on mobile data' as well as roaming etc if its turned on.

Try keeping brightness at 40% or less, and turn off wifi when not using it
