May be seen tonight in Scotland in the north and east as far down as Perthshire. It will be visible around midnight tonight.

Just a heads up if anyone is wanting a possible photo opportunity :)

actually just seen the national news and it could be seen in england as well. So long as theres clear skies though ;p

Was lucky to view the Northern Lights from a cockpit in a transatlantic flight from Canada, back before 9/11 when things like that were allowed. Amazing sight. Get out there if you get the chance tonight.

too cloudy or just nothing visible?

Oh on a side note. For your winning comp entry is that the place just along from the Clackmananshire bridge? I saw it last weekend traveling down to Stenny and thought it looked familiar :)

There was barely a cloud in the sky but my mate and I couldn't see anything that wasn't just stars or the moon. We ended up driving nearly 100 miles and went rather far out into the countryside to get away from the glow of streetlights but it wasn't any help.

I think we might have another go later though as some places are reporting more chances to see it tonight.

It is indeed just along from the bridge at Grangemouth.

Was thinking about driving a bit up north tonight. how far is the question dont want to be driving for hours. Was thinking maybe up past pitlochery possibly upto kingussie does that sound far enough. Not really in the mood to be driving to the top of scotland :D

From last night:

Aurora over Voss, Norway 05. August 2010

Some short timelapses recorded with Canon 40D + Sigma 30mm f1.4

Auroras so far south (60 degrees) is very rare for us, and especially in the summer!

:)
