Just purchased a vehicle that has been declared as SORN.

I have the New Keeper Supplement, and an insurance certificate covering the vehicle.

Am I able to tax the vehicle in a Post office with these two items, or do I have to visit a DVLA office? Both their websites aren't really very clear.

Any info appreciated.

Thanks - hopefully Post Office will be fine, phoned the local DVLA office earlier and they said that a visit to their office was required with a massive array of forms... heres hoping!

Post office, you shouldn't do it online until you receive the V5, otherwise you don't know that the tax disc won't go to the old owner.

He'll need the MOT certificate as well as the New keeper supplement and the insurance document at the post office right? Since he doesn't have the tax reminder.

No MOT certificate required, it's not due one yet!

Taxing a car that is currently SORN is no different to taxing any other car.

V5 or V5 new keeper supplement, MOT certificate if applicable, certificate of insurance
Taxing a car is only awkward when you have a private plate to transfer on or off the vehicle, or if the taxation class is changing (usually this is when the car has been registered to a disabled person)
