Just bought MSI HD4890 with Accelero Pro Twinturbo Pro GPU Cooler, person says it is 880mhz OC edition!

will wait 5-7 till it delivers...

Never owned this card, but looks like it is not loosing to gtx280 ??? ...

will be gaming at 1920x1080...any owners welcome to comment on this card...

which driver is better now? ... I been using NVIDIA for 1.5 years now...

I have both and its pritty even between them. Clocked the 4890 has the edge but thats probably more down to the 4890 being able to hit well over 1Ghz.

If that's the one off the bay the seller edited it to say it's not the OC edition. Still a good card, should OC well and you can use MSI Afterburner to help.

Fantastic card. I'd even go as far as saying that it isn't that much slower than a 5870 in the majority of games.
My immediate reaction to this statement was "What a load of rubbish!" but then I realised that my 4890 gives me 60FPS (@ max detail) on virtually every game I have, so technically, he's right. :)

4890 is a very good card and still quicker than the 5830 and 5770 in almost everything. Throw in a little overclocking and its a very quick. The 280 will still be a little faster and you will lose cuda and physx if either of those actauly matter to you.

Don't get why so many ppl are saying the 280 is better, even slightly. From the benchmarks I'm looking at- the 4890 is as good and in lots of benchmarks, better!

Very good card mate, best purchase for bang for buck imo.

Very capable card, my mate ended up getting a 2nd in crossfire and he gets some awesome results with it

The good thing about the 4890 is the welcome overclockability it has than say in comparison with the 4870, which would require voltage adjustments.

The 275 is a bit better than the 280 and the 4890 is the same as a 275 so the 4890 is the better card but behind the 285 :p

I have a 4890 and still use the 9.7 drivers, the newer drivers are directed more to the 5000's

I'm pretty sure you'll be missing out as I've seen performance improvements for HD 4000 series cards being mentioned in the driver release notes, well after the 9.7 drivers. Plus, newer drivers have better support for games that apply to all ATI cards.

Thats what I thought, bargain.

Although I have just won an Nvidia 8800 Ultra for £45 - with a Zalman waterblock on it. Chuffed TBH. Hope the 'block comes of though.
