i have been given a cheap laptop which has a 1.3 celeron m cpu, i want to know what is the biggest cpu i can instal and can i fit a pentium M or does it have to be celeron M ? I intend to upgrade the ram too.

you most likely can't upgrade it

however you might be able to upgrade it if you could buy better cpu versions of it, if there are versions of it with better cpu's then you should be able to choose from any of those cpu's to upgrade with

thats a bit confusing are you trying to say i should buy a laptop with a more powerful cpu? i would have thought you could swap the cpu just like you can for a pc mobo.

it doesn't work like that, laptop cpu's aren't meant to be switched out so they just program the BIOS for a limited number of CPU's

so you have a laptop with a 1.3GHz Celeron M in it, if there is the same model laptop but with a 1.5GHz Celeron M in it then it is likely you can upgrade your laptop using a 1.5GHz Celeron M
