Vauxhall - Lifetime Warranty

the warranty wars are indeed on.

First came the koreans, then toyota, now vauxhall

anybody else extended the warranty beyond 3 years ?

In America, this has already happened - I believe Mazda have been offering 7/9 year warranties depending on state. Hopefully we'll see some better warranties here, and better warranties usually lead to better cars and (dealer) services :)

They are only interested in selling to the first buyer, the second hand market only gives them reputation not sales, and they messed that one up already

Basically, great for a first time buyer who intends to keep their car for that amount of time/miles

It did actually say they were looking at ways to introduce it to used cars, god knows used Vauxhalls need all the help they can get ;)

No i jest, i dont think they are any worse than anything else middle of the road.

I believe approved used cars will probably have it, and they are looking into ways to introduce it to privately bought cars - probably by way of some kind of inspection (with a cost, no doubt).

The only good thing about this is that maybe manufacturers of good cars might follow suit.

True, and if its past on to approved used cars then thats good news all round, its better than one month warranties thats for sure :D

I think the fact Vauxhall consider 100k lifetime tells us all we need to know about the junk they sell.

Or maybe they just know that the sort of monkey who buys a brand new Vauxhall is going to drive it 5000 miles a year for the next 20 years; so they are offering a warranty which is exactly what their customers need.

Rubbish. If that was true they would offer I million mile warranty knowing none of the new buyers would ever do more than 5k a year so they would never need to pay out.

The limit is there because they know it would cost them a fortune.

TBH, regardless of the marketing (And the term "lifetime" is brilliant marketing, as it'll get everyone's attention), 100K with no time limitation is better than any other warranty offered today. You simply cannot argue with that.

How is that specific to Vauxhall? Surely the fact that they are offering it up to 100k miles shows that they expect no large bills for them to pay up to that figure. What's BMW's warranty like these days? What bills would one expect up to 100k miles in a BMW?

Mines is about to hit 100k, better get rid of it soon. Saying that it is always causing me problems, costs a fortune to run, and forever breaking down.

Most people here are Anti Vauxhall.

As for the rest of us, 100k miles is more than most people do in 10 years, so its pretty significant warrenty for anyone buying a new vauxhall.
