well you can get a card with a better cooler and two year warranty from elsewhere but it would cost over £600

no there's a German company which makes blocks and sells GTX 480's fitted to them although they cost £600 but do have a 2 year warranty and their cooler is better than EK's

I think I know which company you mean. But yeah, I don't want to spend more than £600 on a gpu. Also, I thought the EVGA card had a swiftech cooler?

Correct. The EK block is the best Full cover block for the GTX480 on the market. And best looking in my opinion.

Ha you do know the guy who did the review has been banned from overclocking competitions around the world for cheating and for taking bribes by companies? I wouldn't take advice from him sorry.

lets do a comparison.

i have the card that the ocuk version was based on

it ran vantage at 920mhz and remains stable at 890mhz folding 24/7

so yeah, the EK block is average

there are a lot of people on Xs that have my respect. that guy, whilst his reviews are good

it makes you question the facts.

we sell the EK block pre fited to a card and most importantly, warrantied for 3 years.

the reason we can do this, surprisingly is because the EK block is quite good

From what I gather he was banned recently for buying a 3dmark result from another overclocker (out of desperation since his actual results were considered invalid because he renamed the .exe of 3dmark, not that it legitimises his actions), not for taking bribes (unless that has been uncovered recently as well?).

Having said that, looking temps of the 480 under the different water blocks, the EK is within a degree of the highest performing block, which will make absolutely zero difference to the maximum overclock you can achieve. When the results are as close as that for multiple water blocks other things such as build quality, price and appearance (should) end up being the deciding factor.

I have to say the EK block would not be my first choice for cooling a GTX480. The Koolance block looks good but is expensive, the aquagraFX block on the other hand looks stunning and is quite affordable.

rjk doesn't buy in the watercooling, I do. No plans to get Aqua blocks in as of yet, we are currently shifting a lot of old stock before we can get newer things in.
