I was asked by my mother, who is an artist/art teacher, if i could find her a new monitor. She does quite a bit of photoshop work and she finds the screen on her macbook a bit too small. So i am looking for a monitor to be used for photoshop and general browsing with a max budget of £200, under if possible, and about 22"?

I was thinking that an ips panel would be a very good idea, but they seem to be just out of budget (dell u2211h at £235 :(). Any ideas?

Rather than IPS you may look for LED monitors which give an amazing colour definition and contrast ratio. Theres an ilyama 24" LED monitor on OCuK preorder going for about £190.

IPS isn't essential really unless you're doing professional work, and I get away with two TN LCDs at work fine. As long as you get a decent brand (e.g. LG, Samsung) she should be fine.

its been on pre order for a month + so not gonna wait for that.

Any other reccomendations on TN/led monitors?

Been looking around and found the LG e2250v http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-084-LG&groupid=17&catid=949&subcat=

What is the general opinion on the quality and image of this?

Review when you get it would be lovely. I'm looking at buying one for the same sort of thing, and some gaming.

They look nice enough and the Internet says they are decent, but I just don't trust LG.

Good luck!
