ATI refuse to do a price drop and as such our cost is still a good $20 higher than they were at launch. Thankfully to exchange rates improving and us also lowering our price we can get back to launch prices.

Not many other places in the UK are anywhere near expecially on branded parts with 2 or more years warranty.

This could be the selling point! MSI 460 or HIS 5850 - As I think the 5830 struggles with only havin 16 ROPs, where as the 5850 has 32

Or would it be more cost efficient to trade in the 5830 and get a 4890s or 2x GTS 250s in crossfire bearing in mind my PSU is 650W?

It is doubtful as ATI are organised so they have probably already stopped production on the 58xx/59xx series meaning they will go short before the next gen appears. If ATI manage this the most likely thing is pricing will go up, however if ATI have massive overstock issues and need to reduce stock then price drops will happen but as things stand stock is still reasonably tight.

My thoughts exactly, been disappointed with Ati pricing to be honest. Bought a 5850 Toxic a while back thinking I'd get another about now for crossfire but find its the same price or even higher and thats despite the current strong pound.

Wise choice though. Can't get mine to go anywhere near 70c even under load while oc'd @ 930/1225.
