aparently 20mb broadband only costs £20 a month now yet im still paying £37 like back in the old days....

to everyone else it looks like im getting a bad deal for beeing a 7+ year customer?

i think its about time to phone retentions and tell them i may aswell go with sky because i dont feel valued at all

*up to

I pay £12 (connected at 12mb) for my connection with BE. What speed you connected at OP?

I pay £12 a month for (up to) 24 meg down unlimited, 2.5 meg up.
But it should cost £21.97 but Be* love me.
So yes, you're getting done.

20mbit as always.

seems virgin media reduced the xl broadband price from 37 to 20 at some point and just left existing customers paying the old price probably thinking they wouldnt realise.

just tried phoning them but 30minute queue so bugger that ill do it some other time will be intresting to see what retentions say if they dont keep my -19.50 loyal customer bonus and adjust my xl broadband price i dont see the point in staying.

Yes.

I was paying £67 for a package a new customer could buy for £40. I phoned them up and pointed it out and they said they couldnt match it, but could offer the same with a larger DL (20mb up from 10mb) for £47. So £240 a year saved and double the DL just by asking.

I hear their customer service is terrible but they sorted me out upon asking.

With cable, it's very rarely "up to". You buy 50 Mb, you get 50 Mb.

I have had cable broadband since way back when, and I can probably count on my fingers the number of times I haven't received 95%+ speed.

I can confirm the "up to" thing here too. I have only used 20Mb and 50Mb virgin media packages so I can't say what it was like way back when (;)), but I consistently hit 6MB/s :)

I got exactly the same from them - at first they kept telling me that those offers were for new customers only and they wouldn't be able to match it or even close to it. I pointed out I've been with them since it was Nynex, then NTL and now Virgin - bloomin' YEARS. They were still being asses about it so I told them to disconnect it all there and then and that I'd be cancelling the direct debit at the bank.

Almost instantly they found a better deal for me - doubled my speed from 10 to 20 at no extra cost.

It really wound me up though as I have been a very loyal customer for all these years and it's about time they gave me something for it.

I'm paying £61 odd for 20Mb, Phone XL, caller display, permanent withhold number, and anonymous caller rejection. No loyalty discount here despite being with them since 2000 or 2001 when they were Yorkshie Cable and have had broadband since it started.

I have a mate who works for Virgin, so I'm going to ask if I can get on his mates rates allowance if possible.

I signed up to there 3 for £30 a year or so later they tried to up it to £50/60 a month, called them up, went to retentions, back to £30 for 3. Now a year on they price is creeping up again, but only paying about £35 for XL-tv,M-bb,M-tel

Phone them up!

I called Virgin to cancel my landline (but keep my broadband) as I work away and rarely if ever use my house phone.

I now get my phone for free!

result!

Call retentions and ask for a better offer. I spoke to them a few weeks ago and was offered xl tv, broadband and phone for £50 so even with the extras you should be paying under £60.

I pay £33 for 50mb with virgin. Yep you are being ripped off.

I think I might try that as ive been a customer since you have and still have to pay £25 a month for my 10mb connection .

The only thing that puts me off doing that is if they then say fair enough and cut me off lol. I like being on cable internet as I always get the full speed, never drops below 1.2mb/s.
