feel bad at what ive put my mum through

How on earth can you get addicted to an anti anxiety drug so young?! Where did you even come in contact with it?

teenage boredom i guess

its exactly the sort of drug that 'experimenting' teens end up taking when they cant find arguably less harmful and unaddictive classA drugs

Im 18, and for the past year ive put my mum through a lot of bad things, ive had drug problem and i cant imagine what she must have thought when she found out my pysical addiction to valium, its her birthday tommorow and im thinking of something nice to do for her, any suggestions?

He already said it's because of anxiety problems. Benzodiazepines themselves are not very pleasurable compared to alcohol and recreational users rarely become addicted.

That is all.

grammer police is about again. *better makes sure my spelling and grammer is perfect*

hats of to you admitting you have a problem OP..

What you need to do is to sit and talk to her, as for her birthday. you really are a late planner are you not? no matter a card would be in order, as well as choclates and or flowers maybe, even a meal if you can spare it, very hard to get a gift when you want it, normally lands up going wrong badly.

i did give her a card, got her a present and we went out for a nice meal.

and yes ive seen the basketball diaries, and even though valium is antianxiety meds, ive had withdrawals similar to those shown in the films (like in trainspotting too), benzo withdrawal is one of the only things that can kill with withdrawals (along with alcohol).

Well done, I really hope you get sorted. Some really insensitive people in here at times. I have seen first hand how bad Benzo addiction can be and it is very serious as you stated it is one of the withdrawals you can seizure, die from. I have had periods of very bad anxiety and know how tempting it is to do anything to get relief.

Best of luck to you.

Also it is advisable you take a look over at: http://www.drugs-forum.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=288

Some people there that have gone through this and come out of the other side. They will give you real advice on a taper plan and things to help you get back on track.

Skipping past inevitable pages of crap.... how did the dinner go? Did she have a nice time? Might be a nice idea to do it again, somewhat on a semi-regular basis if you can afford it. You could also cook for her at some point. Perhaps I'm jumping to conclusions, but since you're only talking about your mum, I guess your dad isn't around? How about siblings? Regardless, as long as you're keeping up with your life, and I hope you are, keep in contact - it'll be a joy to her to see you healthier, day to day, and I doubt me if it's gonna get old too soon. Congratulations on getting it together man, all the best.
