first of all i love games like c&c tiberium wars (not twilight >< lol) and was really excited about this game a few years back when they said they were making it. As the years rolled on and all the information that was released made the game look more aimed at online gameplay rather than single player campaign. It started to turn me agaisnt the idea of buying it as i have no exsprience at RTS games online . The only time i have played rts online was back in the red alter 2days, where you just got pumbled as a noobie and had NO chance of winning unless you had played online since the start. so my question is this:

As im not the best at playing these type of games online is it really worth me buying it? or is there some sort of league set up where u can only play players at your level etc. I have heard the campaign is rather short and not worth paying the £25 for that alone.

Try and get yourself a trial code and have a go, hand on approach is always the best!

Regarding online not being suited for beginners, this is kind of right, but if you put your trust in Blizzards matchmaking system you should always be playing people of comparable skill to your own. If ladder play doesn't suit you there's always the custom games which are allot of fun!

I thought the same, thinking I'd be crap in this because I'm not very good at the base building part. I was surprised to win all 5 of our 3v3 placement matches and put us in the Gold league???, even after the placement we were beating Diamond players, won both 2v2s haven't played anymore than that.

I would say if you want to play online in SCII now is the best time to do it were you have lots of new players and people learning the game, as time goes on people are gonna get better and some of the casual newbie types not playing online anymore meaning a less forgiving experience :p.

The Skirmish AI is very good in this, if you can consistently beat very hard ai in custom on all maps early on, then your already talking about Gold league area and you can look at the auto recorded replay of the ai, they can give you a good idea what do due early, how many drones to build etc.
