Just finished (4am) a late night session of starcraft 2 with a mate (us 2 co-op vs guys off internet), we lost lost lost lost lost lost lost :( and after I'd had (only) 3 beers I got so frustrated with his naff playing I turned on him very slightly (just a bit of a (5) as written below).

There is no excuse - I feel like an idiot.

When you play any game co-op with a mate, and they keep messing things up causing both of you to fail fail fail fail (as his base is wiped out yet again) - what kind of gamer are you:

1) Just smile about it who cares if we lose 40 times in a row it's a game for goodness sake? Honestly don't give a monkeys, indeed having fun I chill..
2) Try and give him pointers and teach him - try and nudge him in the right direction it's no fun losing losing losing - sooner or later he's got to listen to you, hasn't he?
3) Not play with him much more as it's pointless you're just getting beat time and time again not fun. As the news of the world says 'make your excuses and leave' despite him excitedly skyping you saying 'Come on dude let's go fight together' just basically say 'nope'?
4) Get a little sarcastic with him over the mic, or just frustrated with him and make sure he knows it just with snidy comments like 'Oh look they've beat us using exactly the same tactic again because you didn't build any counters to that unit like last time, what a shock. Another game for the same beating again?'
5) Get pretty nasty, how can he not know to build ANTI-AIR after the last 6 games he has been wiped out by AIR UNITS. And it's just happened AGAIN so we're both dead AGAIN. AAARGH MATE PLEASE BUILD ANTI-AIR JEEES WHY ARN'T YOU LISTENING BUILD ------ ANTI ----- AIR ------- PLEASE ?!!

Where do you fall with regards to the above? I'm normally (1), but beer quickly moved me to (5) for the first time in my life :( Which was completely the opposite from my normal personality .. how dare I lecture my mate over a computer game :( I'm an idiot ..

MY response is normally

"**** YOU STEVE! YOU *****ING WHORE! I WILL EAT YOUR EYES IF YOU DO THAT AGAIN!"

Number 2. No point just losing all the time, so it would be worth giving the teammate pointers if it's really consistent. They improve, the team improves, then you start winning. win win win :)

pfft try that with Steve

"ok Steve you stand here and do this"

"errr where do i stand... what do you mean?"

"God damn it Steve, I'm going to have to start drawing you maps."

True, there is such a thing as a hopeless case. So number 2 up to a point, then straight down to 5 :p

People who ignore advice to do something that is clearly strategic that even a baby could see over and over are just idiots... unfortunatly theres a lot of idiots who play games. I try to be more forgiving when its more complex stuff as I appreciate that I often only got there myself through having 2+ years playing a game.

Depends, I occasionally game with my big bro and as the night progresses (ie he gets more trashed) his play starts getting bad and it gets on my nerves a bit. I keep it to myself, but usually give tips as we're playing/give instructions "go go go, LEFT! LEFT! ". Whether the frustration in my voice is noticeable...debatable. So I'm gonna say 2 with a dash of 4.

I always find most of my freinds listen to me when i give them advice and stuff to make them a better player. But if hes a casual gamer he properly doesnt care hes losing.

But theres no way i could play with some one a regular basis if they totally sucked and it was making us and me lose all the time esspecily if they dont seem to be listening or getting better. But i wouldnt rage at them i would just be number 2 then number 3. Maybe 5 in my head :P

Might be a idea to play with him vs the a.i till he gets better i always find rts games very hard my self online and i know i wouldnt play online till i felt like i knew what i was doing.

Bit of 2 and 4 I reckon.

Generally speaking though I don't play teamgames with friends, and when I did I used to pick our battles carefully. I was the weaker player sometimes anyway. So you could say I used to be #3. As a rule it's not worth getting into an argument with genuine friends though, I usually see things coming and avoid/diffuse the situation.

4 and 5 if hes american :D they dumb as fouck :p

i play with a few amercians daily and there dumbness never amazes me :)

like you can be playing a cod 4 mix and say on strike you have a 1v1 and we defending and the enemy is a sniper and on b wall you say b wall sniper americans just seem to ignor this and run straight towards them :D  :p

On the flipside, Canadians! Brilliant, they always seem to know what they're doing and are always so cheerful and don't take things so seriously.
