YES you do get screen tearing with 120 hz but it is reduced compared to 60hz.You will always get screen tearing when you unsync from any monitor, purely because as the name suggests you ARE not synced with your monitor refresh rate. How noticeable it is,is entirely down to the game and how observant you are .
But something to consider is using vsync and triple buffering, yes you get extra input lag BUT when you start getting to higher refresh rates diminshing returns starts to make an impact I.E the input lag becomes less noticeable,i certainly cant feel much if any at 120.I would guess that if we ever get to 240hz or above, input lag with vsync on will be all but unnoticeable to even the most hard core of competative gamers.I personally HATE screen tearing so always play with vysnc and triplebuffering on and to be frank compared to my old 60hz monitor its like night and day,SOOOO much smoother and less laggy on 120hz.All in IMHO of course
