Firstly the suggestion was COLLEGE not Uni. Somebody with ZERO qualifications is not going to get into Uni and rightly so. The suggestion was to pick up some GCSE's or similar.

Secondly living on £3k a year? LOL

He would get into uni trust me LOOL. It might not be the best from the Russell Group or redbrick but, he would have availability to the money and resources and qualifications to get him sorted out.

the **** ones like UEL, south bank. Just needs to make sure he picks a course which will lead directly into employment, otherwise he can always become a teacher :P

He would be classed as mature student, and probably only have to do some sort of verbal, numerical tests to be admitted.

I don't understand how your JSA or what ever benefits you claim are not enough to cover rent.

Housing benefit take care of that and pay full amount for rent and council tax.

Commit identity fraud, get one of those 40% credit cards available to anyone under a false name/details. Get a tent, go live in a wood, hunt rabbits/deer... :p

Legitimately, I'd either get a job as a ground worker (labourer), join the forces, binman, cleaning operative, canvasser, run away and join the circus etc etc. As for debts, I'd get a IVA (looks far better than bankruptcy on your record), paying back what I could afford.

Or without any qualifications there's a huge amount of benefit available to put you through education upto A-Level standard for free, alongside cash benefits like the adult learning grant of £30/week.

To work up £25k of debt over 6 years, you needed to have an income, lenders won't lend to someone without money coming in, and a good credit rating needs this income too. This means a job, despite the lack of qualifications, so in this case, I'd go back to your last employer and get a job doing what you did for 6 years.

Not hard situation to get out of. You will get housing benefit to pay the rent. Coucil tax benefit to pay the council tax. You just pay a tiny amount. You have JSA for living off. And you declare bankruptcy for the debts.

Job done and now you get a job.

There is absolutely no way you are going to get a bursary big enough for a single person to actually LIVE on whilst doing a full time college course!

You're wrong man. The living expenses part of a bursary is means tested so if he has zero of his own money/income and has no parents to back him up then not only will he get his rent paid for, but also get extra money for the cost of living equating to roughly what jobseekers allowance would be. I know people who went through college under 100% funding. He'll also get travel expenses covered as well as certain other expenses like books ect.

Obviously he's not going to have anything in the way of money left over for anything other than scraping by, but he could absolutely LIVE on it for one year.

That's just how it is in Scotland...perhaps it's different where you're from.

One way ticket to Bridgend.

Alternatively, get hold of cccs and start taking hold of your debt. Then, get your ass to the job centre and take any job that will have you, in fact take 2.

Get a job (and by that I mean any job) & get some qualifications in something your interested it.

Fast forward 2-5 years & you're on the ladder of your desired career path.

Probably knock one out first though, for good luck.
