i am building a pc with the following specs...

###
Krypton Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz Overclocked Bundle
Intel Core i7 930 2.80GHz @ 4.00GHz
Asus P6X58D-E (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair XMS3 (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Triple Channel
Akasa Venom CPU Cooler
got an extra akasa venom cooler
###
Corsair TX 650W
Asus 1gb ddr5 5850
pioneer dvd burner
2tb WD hd

case is obviously the 902

i put together and there is a lot of noise.... i though my old computer was bad, this is noisey as hell.

there are 4 fans in the case, 2 fans on the cpu cooler, a fan on the gpu, a fan on the ps as well... my question is do i need to have that many fans.....

i have already not bothered with the fan for the cpu... i.e. there is only one fan there no. but the fan at the back of the 902 could be switched off as well as one of the front ones.

what is the best fans to switch off for a little quietness. ?

sorry if this is a pure n00b question, but i love my silence.... and no i`m not going out to buy another case lol....

I have a 902, I have the 2 front fans turned right down as low as they will go, also have the back and top (220mm) fan on lowest settings and with that setup, I don't really hear any sound at all from them and this provides more than adequate cooling, neither do I have any fan fitted in the side panel...

... exact same and I run a Noctua with 2 x 120mm

hmm sounds like a good idea, i had another fan for the cpu spare, i was going to use that for the side fans as well.. but if i keep all the other fans at min speed, it should be quiet. i also will be keeping this inside a desk

but will be taking the door off. not exactly the best way to show off this beautiful case. but it is a working case not a show case lol

thanks.... i was thinking of putting a fan on the side i.e. the spare cpu fan for the cooler.

will think about it if it is not cool enough.

install all tri-cool case fans and set them to low.

your cpu cooler should not be loud, if it is then it's probably too hot. - get RealTemp and check..

if your gpu fan is loud, maybe you didn't install catalyst yet? you can check fan speed/temp in catalyst,

I wouldnt bother with a side case fan but rather stick 2 on my cpu cooler (push pull)... you will find air will still be drawn in from the side window anyway (check filter once in a while for proof) :)

i have found this case to be good for the amount of fans it has and i have my 3 120mm on low and the 200mm on medium and i have another fan for the corsair h50 cpu cooler.

okay, i can`t check my cpu at the moment, it is sent back along with mobo and ram to get fixed. appartently my mobo combo i bought off ocuk has issues so one i have got the computer up and running i`ll be able to do more of a check on it.

yeah i was thinking about doing that, but will have to wait to make sure i can get the fan in. only point is that the fan is about less than 3 cm away from the back fan, so not sure if there is a point

that is a nice set up. all i have to do now is get a fan for the tiny bedroom. it gets really hot.... so i`d imagine it will be getting hotter still with the oc system i will get into it.

I have a 902 with all case fans on low, CPU cooler is silent and so are GPU and PSU fans. Have you enabled cool n quiet or similar setting in your motherboard bios?

i`m guessing quiet and cool is amd only. the mobo i have is Asus P6X58D-E so not sure about that ablilty yet. haven`t got a replacement back from ocuk yet.
I have a 902 case, i leave my fans on low settings seems ok heat wise and its very quiet, loudest thing in my pc is my video card.
seems low is the way to go. i have noticed that there is hardly any noise off the front intake fans at high or low, so i`ll keep these at high for the moment.
