Ah for the good old days of skaven/fairlight/purple motion making game soundtracks
Games like Starcraft, Quake 2, MechCommander, Unreal Tournament, Need For Speed 3: Hot Pursuit, commandos beyond the call of duty, etc. all had epic soundtracks that perfectly fit the game.
Personally, I prefer the radio on pretty much any GTA game - it's not a soundtrack as such, but some of the music is good and the comic ones are brilliant!
Test Drive Unlimited had some decent sounds to it as well!
-Legend of Zelda series ~ specifically Ocarina of Time and A Link to the Past
-Morrowind
-Deus Ex
-Fallout 1 & 2
-GTA series ~ especially VC
-Grim Fandango
-Half-Life series
-Metal Gear Solid series
-Icewind Dale
-Portal
-Mirror's Edge
-StarCraft
-Age of Empires II
X-COM (PSX version)
Super Metroid (SNES)
Ninja Warriors (ARCADE - that music was unbelievable at the time!)
Shinobi (ARCADE)
Equinox (SNES)
Turrican 2 (AMIGA)
Dune (AMIGA)
but... if I had to choose one it would have to be:
Goldeneye on the N64 - what they did with the bond score was stunning. Think about it - it's better than any of the recent film remakes.
I have to agree, I've played many games over the years, and Age of Conan's sound track always comes to mind. When I think back to what sound tracks I've liked.
Some of you may not have heard of it, but Outcast on the PC had a brilliant soundtrack. Not only did it have brilliant music, but the story was amazing too!
