Looking to buy fresh new tyres

I've seen some FALKEN ZE912 for £36.20!

Is this a win? :D

ATM I'm reading reviews at tyrereviews.co.uk. Should be looking anywhere else?

Personally I'd only opt for the ZE912 if you are limited to 13 or 14" rims - you have 15" wheels so the better Falken offering would be the 452.

The 912 isn't an awful tyre by any stretch of the imagination but there are better options. I'd have a look at the Kumho KU31 as well.

I'm putting ZE912s on the Fiesta, I'm stuck with 14 inch wheels and the ZE912s are still going to be £50 fitted. Such an annoying size..

Janesy have a butchers at Yokohama A539 if you can find them. The ZE912 is a decent enough all-rounder but if you go up just 1 inch in size the world's your oyster and it can go out the window.....

I have 14s on the Manta so share your pain.

I'll have a look, cheers.

Kumho KU31 are in excess of £70 for my size :mad:

Ricochet_J I have the KH31's on the front of my MK2 mondeo. Overall they're been a pretty damn good tyre for the money given good performance levels in the wet and dry for the cost. I've personally found them to be of good quality level. They clear water pretty well too.

One thing to note is that they have an inside and outside wall so make sure the fitters take note....

I'm on my second set now but the first set probably lasted me 24k ish...

Thanks for that. :) How many miles have you had yours for now? Are they an economical tyre?

Why is it important that the tyre has an inside and outside wall and why is it important to the fitters?

I've had my KU31's for about 2k now and they've been brilliant on quite a tyre hungry FWD car, a lot less wheel spinning than my previous (ditch finder) tyres.

Very impressed and don't seem to have lost any tread yet despite a few Gtech runs.

Would go for them again.

Where did you get them from?

You had a look at Semperits? I have them on my Fiesta and they have been excellent. Great grip in dry and wet. I've overstepped it on the odd occassion in the wet on round-a-bouts and there's no drama, just grips.

I ordered the Kumho KH31 at £40.70 each. They got fantastic reviews from people using them in a variety of cars, from everyday hatchbacks like my own to higher end Suburu Imprezas.

I've also been quoted £12 for fitting and balancing.

I use these on my clio and they are ok, not a patch on grip compared to my Parada Spec 2's in the dry. Depends what kind of power your running. You may get away with 205/55/15 as it'll have a similar rolling radius.

Brilliant, they held up quite well at the meet for me the other day.

Would certainly put them on most 'normal' cars without worrying.
